Would like to see pics of them. I find the birchen stunning. I am working on blue birchen. I think it would be pretty, but not sure if it would just resemble the blue silvers. I have always wanted a lakenvelder colored phoenix. lol. Wouldn't that be something.

I have some Blues coming up.. I have a real nice Silver Blue that is Blue Birchen I believe LOL. I need to see how he feathers out. He's only a couple months old. I started out going for Lemon Blue but am getting a lot more silver blue and Birchen.. I will try to get some pics of them soon. Lakenvelder would look good!!

Here is one of my hens that is mature. The young rooster I was talking about is out of her..

She is beautiful. Love the feathering. Looks like she has a melanistic background. Sumatra? You have to select to get your white earlobes back. My orig. black roo has partial white earlobes. Seems harder to get the black coloring out of the face of the hens than the roosters. Can't wait to see the young roo.

yes ,I know me and large fowl dont sound right, but would never pass on that offer. They'll be the only standard anything here on the farm, LOL
planning on breeding them to each other for now just as standards, defiantely going to keep that line true. I already have bantam blacks from her from last year, pullet. Breeding to Cy's nm white now to try to work out some nice cockerels in bantam, that or I have the Cy black gold male I'm going to try her with next too.
May use the LF blacks later on but only if needed to keep a good solid black. With what I have to work with this year, I dont think I'll have any trouble with making some nice solid black bantams though.
Working on bantam birchen myself right now, and the blued version looks awesome. Just got those blue golds, and a blue silver pullet in this fall, and plan to use them to work blue into the other colors and the solid blue too. Also have a few dun and dun silver pullets that are going to get a work out this year.

You know, I will do a little digging on that. Her mother is a hen passed along to me as a project bird that is mostly Ohiki but expressing Blue and Citrine. She is where the gypsy face comes into play.

Ok, I am guessing she came from Toni-Marie right? Toni breeds gypsy faced melanistic birds. That would explain it.
