Maxx, It may have been an Onagadori that had a tail that long, but not a Phoenix.

Clint,

Yes, I agree thats a description of an Onagadori but we have none pure blood like that in the U.S. Its just the mis-leading "facts" that hatcheries put out to boost their sales. LOL...that is why there are us...you me and a few others who know more to help differentiate : )
Good call!!!

Yep that's true but let's not get another Onagadori argument going like the one from the other night. LOL But yeah, hatcheries don't know what they have and I have also seen the where hatcheries say phoenix can get 25ft long tails, That would would be a true Japanese Onagadori, and even then they would baicly have to be kept in a prison with VERY HIGH maintainance to get the tails that long.

Another thing about hatcheries that ticks me off is that they sell their Easter Eggers as Ameraucanas or Araucanas, I don't even raise those either of those two breeds but I think it is a major discredit to the people who do raise true Ameraucans and Araucanas and try to breed the true recognized colors to SOP and then hatcheries just falsely advertise theirs as Ameraucanas/Araucanas and I believe they are to blame for all the confusion that is associated with the differences between the breeds, I think we should get a big group to swarm the hatcheries with phone calls and emails about the Phoenix and Easter Eggers and maybe they will start advertiseing correctly.

Preach on Brother!!!
Couldnt agree more, many of the TOPDOG phoenix and onag guys ahve tried but to no avail, they need to get their facts straight, a chickens who's tail never touches the dirt is neither breed in my opinion, a cross maybe, and no phoenix will ever get that 20 foot mark they all use as a selling point...

As for the mudd, mine like it too, they are starting to grow webbed feet! If you look close at my new pic of the whites, you can se it on their feathers where they were touching the ground.. And when you get here this week, you'll see why we chose Boggy Bottom as our name, That pic on the home page of our website, is our front yard, a 12 acre swamp, when we cleared all this a year and a half or so ago, that right when all those tropical storms 2 seasons ago started coming, got like 20 inches in 2 days, and we turned into a bog hole, for a while, lol

Clint & Aubrey,

Ditto! Perhaps if you guys could give it a shot at calling them, it would help. But the wait might be long. Haha. Well...but to be really honest, I don't think they will do anything about it because making any changes would prove their past sales of these "Phoenix" as INVALID and could possibly even get sued. But oh well...as long as we are here to help show the right paths of others who are more serious into breeding longtails to not go with hatchery stock because its not gonna go anywhere : )

Hope you two the best and have a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS!!!

Have fun on your trips!!! : )
