Hello...

Just curious, how much do you charge to paint the individual pictures? You can feel free to PM me the details or please e-mail me. Thanks!!!

Aubrey,

Yes, I thought so too! : ) Don't look like hatchery stock. I have seen tons of the Phoenix that are hatchery stock and you better believe its nowhere close to that! ; )
Mind sharing with me who they are and which states are they in. I assume they ship or have their private website too? If so...please feel free to PM me the infos. Thank You!!!

He sure is a beauty! That is a very nice gift indeed. Congrats!!!

PS: Just a little note...is that cage used to quaranteen your birds or did you have other birds in there? There seems to be a lot of droppings @ the bottom and the water is rather pretty green (perhaps algae), please correct me if I am wrong but hope that is not going to be his permanant cage...

I REALLY HOPE YOU DON'T GET OFFENDED...

The cage is just temporary shelter for now as I couldn't put him with my others now. He is going to have his own run and a barn stall conveterted into a hen house along with a harem of about 12/13 ol' gal all to himself. I had to put him there temporarily so my brother could have his transport cage back. I also sent him a couple of young layers back with him as a gift too. He'll get a nicer place very quickly, prolly tomorrow. The other chicks that you see are my Dels he brought also, so they are from the same farm so no worry of them passing anything that he hasn't already be subjected to. It'll all be good soon.

CatDaddy,

Ohhhh!!! That explains it. Haha. Good good! He will feel like a KING! 12 wives. WOW! Haha. Anyhow, that explains why the water is green. But yeah, even though its only temp, if he accidently drinks that water, I dunno what might happen to him...
Best of Luck!!!

Happy Holidays

Shelley D,

He looks really nice! However, at 9 months of age, his saddle feathers are very short it seems like. Even the Phoenix should have really long feathers at 9 months of age, I would say at LEAST 6 inches long...

Perhaps when you get that measured, it would help you out even MORE in the process of illimination : )

Good luck!

Nevertheless, he's really a beauty!

- Tommy

Well, I bought him at an auction for $2, so he looks pretty good to me
lol.png
I'm using him to cross with some OEG hens anyway, so it doesn't really matter. It was a toss up between a red jungle fowl and a phoenix, he just doesn't have the jungle fowl look to me. He looks terrible right now, he molted out real badly this fall! His beautiful, almost dragging the ground, tail was gone
lol.png
I don't think he has the right tail carriage anyway, but he is a pretty boy
smile.png
Everyone that sees him wants to buy him, I just sell them his sons
lol.png

I'm not 100% sure of the age, I don't remember when I took that pic! He's now about 14 or 15 months old. I've had him a year, and he just barely had bumps for spurs when I got him

Shelly D,

Went back to take a look at the pictures once again, this time, much more closely.

It can't be a Red Junglefowl (Breast is a blue color, not black & WAYYY too many tail feathers)

It can't be a Phoenix (Saddle feathers are very short and amount of main feathers are very low)

I would say its a mix between a hatchery stock Phoenix and a hatchery stock Red Junglefowl (in which I basically consider BBR Old English). Oh well...nevertheless, he's still a beauty! So your $2 is for sure worth it! Haha

Gosh, I know that's the truth, I was worrined I was gonna have to name my place Boggy Bottom Somethin, and we're up on a sand hill, but I couldn't even walk through the runs of some to the pens for like two days with out sinking in mud, the chickens seemed to like playing it in though.
