Post Phoenix Pics Please

Sorry if this is redundant, but the thread is so long. Can anyone tell me at about what age a Phoenix starts to lay? And do they usually lay in nesting boxes?mine have not seemed to be missing for any period of time, but I also have seen no tiny eggs in with the BR, RIR, etc. Eggs.Thank you!

Mine start about 6 months old and yes they lay in nest boxes. However, some of mine lay eggs almost the size of a RIR.. and some are tinted and look almost like a brown egg.. Are yours bantams?

I had a broody Phoenix hen that hatched five chicks that are now about three months old. We have moved them out of their pen and put them in the yard with the adult chickens. My hen keeps getting out of the yard somehow and Atleast one chick usually gets out with her. She stopped for a while after they got snowed in close to the coop. After about two or three weeks fron when the snow had melted she started getting out again. We have big dogs that kill our birds and I don't want her dead since she is my show Phoenix. But I don't know what to do. The fence us pretty high and we clip her wings so she can't fly. Does anybody know what to do? If she doesn't stop I will have to either sell her or just hope she makes it.

Beautiful birds! Are pure white phoenix showable? Or do they have to be silver or gold variety to show?
in bantams yes, pretty sure in large fowl it's just silver and gold duckwing, though they are working on adding the bb reds. Why they arent already in it I havent a clue. The bantam has 6 or so though. silver duckwing, gold duckwing, silver, gold, light brown, and white that I can call right off the top of my head. Pretty much to me though the silver and gold is just a hackle variation of the duckwing counterpart

Ahh okay. I am getting a pair of White Phoenix (large fowl though) and was hoping I could show them. I guess I can exhibition them, but they won't be qualified to "compete". Should still be fun though.

Anyone an expert on breeding/genetics of the Phoenix breed? Could I possibly get some silver or gold phoenix by breeding my white male to a golden or silver female?

Not an expert, but if your rec. white is silver or red underneath, you would definitely get golden, silver or red duckwings from mating him to golden and silver hens.
