Post Phoenix Pics Please

I dont know, last I checked the APA and ABA only had 4 phoenix colors, white, bb red, silver duckwing, and gold duckwing. The silver dw and gold dw were the first added back in '74 I think it was, then a few years back they added bb red (light brown), then just recently white.
I did find a Germay/ European standard that had blacks, golds, and silvers, but they gave no discription of the colors, just the names, so not sure if they meant duckwings or the gold/silvers you mentioned

Some breeds just use different common names, and simply call them silvers, some go the full name, silver duckwing. Like RAREROO said, silver is the color gene and duckwing is the pattern gene, so what is the pattern gene in the black necked ones, is my question I guess?

There's all kinds of "silver " birds, silver quail, quil, duckwing, birchen, columbian, silver millies etc

I did find this info in the ABA and APA Standards from 1998.....not current....the ABA recognized BOTH Silver and Silver Duckwing and Golden and Golden Duckwing...so at one time BOTH colors were recognized....some people may still be breeding for one or both colors....I do believe that some may have crossed the two Silver varieties and that's why you see various amounts of stripping in the hackles....just an observation. I drew some of the color plates for the ABA standard and can remember needing to know the difference between the two varieties.... The large colored 1998 APA standard color plates and discription shows and describes the Silvers as having stripping.... Not sure what is described to date.... I'm familiar with the various "Silver" varieties...I have some Silver Mille Fleur Pyncheons that I'm working on....We had less varieties when I first started showing back in the 60's.... Phoenix were always one of my favorite breeds.

10-4, I got ya, yepI was going off the more resent issues, there's just the 4 listed now, but yes I did see the list that way for over seas standards last night. You had me currious, I had to start looking, that was the only site I saw anything for just a silver or gold, everything else was listed as duckwing??

Yep, I am doing the same with d'anvers as you, got them to 21 colors so far and working on the silver millie too in them, got a good f1 start to them so far.

Would love to see you pyncheon progress in that color. And, yep, aside form d'anver, the bantam phoenix are one of my favorite too for sure, got them in 11 colors so far and starting a heavy breeding program with them to get more this year as well.

see ya

Yep, I've always liked the pyncheons too, just never had a chance to get them. Thanks for the complements on the d'anvers. Been working hard on them for a while with no plans of slowing down, hope to wrap up about 20 more colors this spring, I'm ready.

congrats on the egg roocrazy

I know the feeling, some of mine started this week too.
Got 3 lavenders, 2 blue gold, a couple black, 3 bb red, and 4 whites so far. Finally got to crank the incubator back up last weekend. Been lost without it the past month or so.

thinking spring for sure, cant wait. Just started building 20 new pens this weekend, once again .Seems to never end just did 12 a few months ago and they are full, and I have got to get these done quick to be ready for March. I'm taking donations, or weekend help will be nice, LOL (Clint, Clint!)

Haha I need to be buildin my own new pens, but santa didnt bring me all those bags of money I asked for, so I dont have any money for them and still havent decided on the designe yet but I'm mainly wanting to move the birds out of the pens I'm using now and plant something in those pens for them, and turn them back in there when it gets about knee high so it would be food for them and growing something in there would help use up the manure thats built up in the pens over the years and making it all muddy when it rains.

But since I dont have any money and what I do have will be going into eggs and pen supplies, I'll have to plan a day to come help you with your pens so I can get some of these good new longtail offspring out of you. lol But yeah I dont mind coming to help sometime, we'll just have to plan for it and It it may be another week or two before I will be able to make it over there to bring you these two birds but maybe we can plan a pen building day when I do come to bring them.
