Of course you should oil your bird's feathers too if they get very long. I doubt my roo can reach his feathers once they are over 3 ft long. So I help him keep them up!

very true, If I remember correctly, there are 11 genes that go into just the tail feathering alon on an onagadori.

Just checked one of my bantam whites from Toni yesterday, 48 inches! Pretty darn good for a bantam. Unfortunately I checked it because it molted them off this weekend and I was just curious. Got him mid summer, so not sure how long he had carried them, will know next time though,

It rained today so sorry if they are dirty, but I wanted to post some pics of the nonstandard colors. They are young, but you get a good idea of color.

Yes, they are new to me this year. I have had the blues for a while, but never took advantage of the BlBl (splash gene) But and however, I find them striking this year... I usually cull the splashes. lol. But since there are more red in them, they seem so much like a pyle that I actually just adore them. I can't wait to breed my blue cubalayas next year and get some splash wheatons!!! Very beautiful also. Of course my husband loves pyle, so he is the reason that I made a few outcrosses to some dom. white carriers this year from my dad's flock of patriots (his breed). Quite curious about crossing my German Red Shoulder Yokos with these splash reds too.. Just to see what comes out. My black phoenix roo carries mottling and I have always thought a black mottled phoenix would be just fantastic also. How are the lavenders coming along?
