i was wanting to order from them this year and was wondering if they were preety hens, good layers, and what breeds were best, post pics please*!!!

I have placed several orders from Mt. Healthy the last three years and I have been extremely pleased with them. My favorite breeds from the are the Plymouth Rocks in White, Barred and Partridge, EEs, Buff Orpington, Production Reds, Speckled Sussex, Amberlinks and Golden Comets.
The Comets are laying machines and most of mine have laid jumbo dark brown eggs. They do tend to wear themselves out after a couple years, so I order replacements each year. The White Rocks are very large birds to be hatchery stock and are good dual purpose birds. The EEs I ordered last year are all laying blue/green eggs- some are XL.

Here's a few pics of the pullets taken last fall when they were 6 or 7 months old.

I hope this is helpful.

Yes, they are very good layers. The Comets are by far the best egg-layers, but I would put the BR, Ambers, and BSL in the next tier of egg-layers.

i am glad for this thread. i have 25 BR coming about april 8.

do you have any pics of BR roos, perchance?

Pleased to hear about the White Rock size. Mt. Healthy still has some unique stock, hatcherywise........ As far as you can see, do the BR have a similar size? Do you think they could be dual purpose?

Of course, one can just select for size and use those as breeders. But i was just wondering about the BRs.

thanks!
