My four month old Lavender Pullet. Not the best photo but she seems to be starting to show some growth and fluff even though this pic does not really show it.

Oh I agree about the quality thing, but these other sources I think are also in it for the cash. They just appeared out of nowhere with something super expensive....I don't know- maybe they actually were well known breeders of orpingtons in the US prior?

I know that one of those sources is importing birds directly from the UK, as Greenfire farms has done. This is extremely expensive and I understand can easily cost more than $2000 per bird. So yes, they are pricey and will be until we get a good sized amount of them here in the US. I have read of others who have purchased offspring from imported stock and are working not only on quality but to make them affordable. I can't at the moment name who exactly but there are BYC folks involved in this. I just can't recall their names. Old folks disease, I remember the content but not the names.

Oh I have seen some of the birds- very nic. Great advertising. It just strikes me as more of a capitalist venture than an actual "farm". Farms don't just pop up out of nowhere with $200 and up chicks. If they didn't expect to make a profit they wouldn't be doing it.
Anybody remember hearing about people that kept chickens during the depression so they could make a little "egg money"? How different it is this time around.

Hi from Ga. I listen to everyone complain about certain people charging expensive prices. Let me know when you' all will start selling these birds on the cheap. I would like to buy some. Also I would like to know what you all consider a reasonable price. I check websites all the time and not to many out there have reasonable prices.
