Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

He was a Mc Murry hatchery chick and it was cloudy outside when I took the picture in the barn. I'm hoping to get good pic when I can let him outside. That would no surprise me though. You know how hatcheries are. But I just felt sorry for him because he was getting picked on and I felt I could give him a better home.

Good luck to you both.. lol I told myself that I wasn't going to set the bator up until end of Feb. or beginning of March but one of my best hens came up lame this week... I have nothing from her.

BUT... I had over 6 doz eggs in the frig and some of them are hers for sure. Her particular eggs are always soo perfectly shaped and lighter colored... Sooo that helped me narrow down on the chances. Then.... I decided... to go ahead and fill up the rest of bator with the best looking eggs . A lot of them are real big... most likely belong to my older Buff hens with Buff roo over them. The lame hen is a splash and she is regularly bred by a large black roo. Soo all her babies will be blue. These eggs were not managed properly... kept in frig with door banging shut, not turned, some wrong end up... you name it... the odds are stacked against them pretty high.

Meanwhile my splash is in her room inside the coop along with a crippled buff hen so they can still be with everyone but nobody can hurt them. She seems to be alittle better this morning. She still limps.. but her foot is flat on the floor rather than twisted out to the side (walking on ankle) I saw her roosting on the floor this morning standing on the good foot. She wasn't able to do that yesterday. Who knows.. maybe she will be able to over come this. The buff hen has lost some weight from her breast but she was able to get around better and eat some this morning. So we shall see.

Nice babies Henthymes!

Charlie I am sure my Buffs would love their own house. Does that coop have running water, heat, satellite? lololol

By first impressions, everyone preffered my White cockerel over my White pullet. Now I don't know. She looks good to me. I like her better then my cockerel. Just goes to show you how much can change in just 4 months. Also here is an updated pic on a 3/4's Russ Milkey line Black cockerel I have my eye on.
She's a haus

Unlike the cockerel, she has no yellow or brassiness in her plumage. Another reason I like her asides from her head.

Here is Flotilla, he is son of my deceased Coon killed Black cock I called Flozelle. Flozelle was my largest cock from my first year offspring. I did get the Coon in my homemade Guillotine trap. Love that trap!
Flotilla will be taken to this White pullet eventually to enrich the genetics in my Whites with a separate line. HOPEFULLY!!
Plus he may get to be with Unice. I like raising my future breeders together to get them comfortable with each other.
