I don't think technically their Mottleds. I read on the ShowBird site on the Mottled Cochin thread the SOP says a true Mottled has "V" or "HEART" shaped White tipped feathers. Both of these girls have some feathers that are almost all White. But, many online have called this look Mottled. Some here on BYC are even selling this look as a Mottled. I know better.
I believe the Cochin mottled took their SOP from a hard feathered bird - like the D'Uccle. Cochins are soft feathered - like orps and lorps (as I know you know
)- so it is very hard/impossible to actually obtain the V or the sharp distinction between the white/black. I believe there is/was talk on that thread of seeing if the sop or judges would take the soft feathering into consideration when judging. (not that I am saying your lorps are mottled or not - just the cochin thread caught my attention due to my involvement with the MF Cochin project
)
PLUS hey I see an egg in with those lovely girls of yours.
