Where did you get him from?

I got him from a breeder about an hour from me here in Fl when he was a bitty

. I was kinda looking for opinions on him for breeding him or to just sell him? You have one?

My honest opinion? He looks more hatchery than show quality. I would not breed from him and he would be disqualified at a show. If you just want a backyard pet bird, then he will be fine. There are many good breeders of quality Buff Orpingtons. hincjc is a great source, along with many others on this thread.

that would be a great if you could come up and talk chicken...its a nice area with finger lakes winerys and watkins glen not far away...we would llove to have you up...it is a lot of work to get ready for show so I dont blame you for not getting into it..lot of people find it a lot of trouble and it can be for sure.. and NYS has thier own rules..in Pa , you do your own pullorum testing..in NY they have an inspector who comes to do it..its hard work all the way around..When we got into the show and you looked down the line of exhibition birds, each bird had his own carry case under the table..from bantams to the big guys..all shiney and polished carry crates..and Im telling you , the more you looked the fancier they got...my husband went around and looked them all over ,there was a guy from out of state that had a pull behind made for his car like a mobile home just for chickens and he had a fancy chicken air brushed on it..husband just couldnt get over how serious people take all of this.. he is a builder so he loves lookin at that stuff..then he realised we were the only people there with ensign toilet paper boxes..hee hee.....he said LYNNE...Get those boxes out to the back of the car befor someone sees them ..I said..I dont think they are going to be looking at the boxes under the table.. maybe we got an extra point for creative design..we didnt win the chicken bingo thou darn it..you pick a number on the bingo board or several if you want..and pay a buck per number,,, then they put a little bantam in the cage with the bingo board in it..whatever number the bantam poops on wins

.At the end of the day when we won champion and they called my name..I was so humbled I kind of stumbled out there to get the award..I seriously thought because it was so quiet, people must have wondereed who is this person who just flew in under the radar and took this big award..then all of a sudden I heard this hootin and whistling in the back, must have been the faulkners..they have a big show barn pretty much down the street from me and people from all over even in here were making a huge fuss about faulkners blk copper maran rooster..some BYC members were trying to get them to join up in here not sure whats going on with that maran rooster but everyones making a fuss ...some top guy said hes the finest hes ever seen or something..they have quite a stable of show poultry but like all people who come up from the south, they learn quick, keep a low number of high quality birds cause the winters are tough up here..so they are down sizing the whole flock..they also have quite the trophy room over there..they got real big at first..opened up 2 big barns..but found out quick how bad the roads can get , just gettin to the other barn sometimes was tough.. I kind of tried to tell them..we are actually building a bigger barn right out of our back door so no traveling across town, we have the roof trusses jus t going to wait till spring now..well there Ive talked your ears all off this morning..going to go check if I heard anything from faulkners..if anyone is looking for decent stock of all kinds they are selling except orps..those sold right away..they didnt have any blks, just buffs they picked up out west somewhere.. some youth show family took the buffs , they were from down in Pa .but they have lots of everything else all are award winners from runner ducks to chantaleres? they have it.They might even have a few white orps..I think they are on facebook bammajam farms or bamajam farms. cant miss the picture of all the chicken awards if anyone is within driving distance well worth the look.they would proably even deliver as they show all over kingdome come.

Ok what are his DQ charateristics?

the excessive white in his wings for starters. Difficult to see on type, but seems undersize. Comb is large, almost like a leghorn. Can you post a photo of him alone?

Here is the Best of Breed and Reserve of Breed at Crossroads. Compare them with your bird. Yours is pretty. But in a showroom, this is what the judge is looking for.

These also weigh in at 10# plus. What does yours weigh?
