Yea, I'd be livid if I had to pay that much to get my own dog back! LIVID! What did they say to you? Did she have a holding period and you missed it (which still shouldn't matter, in my opinion, she's YOUR dog). Even though she was lost, I'd consider what they're doing stealing. Maybe if you were a little more aggressive, they'd be more inclined to sway a little. I mean, at $250 they're basically selling your dog out from under you or trying to make you buy her back. Did they fix her or treat her for anything. She looked very healthy in both of the pics you posted, so I don't see how they can justify charging you, the owner, that much for your dog.

nOW SHE IS ONLY 150...WE ARE TRYING TO GET THE MONEY NOW..IT WAS A HUGE AMOUNT SINCE SHE LOOKED SO MUCH LIKE A PIT (TWO PART PIT)..BUT SHE IS A LAB NOW AND WE CAN GET HER HOME... i FEEL LIKE BURSTING INTO TEARS...
They still had the price too high, we had just paid all the bills....She is going up for adoption tonight...We tried so hard...they wanted her rabies shots and alot of extra money taking stuff..

Okay had a emotional ride from H^$%..... We have been told we couldn't we could and finally after weeks of her gone we finally went and picked up Rosie bear.........................Gosh, this hopefully will never happen again..
