Stationary hatching that I made to sit on runners.

Cost was about 200.00 but I bought all material. I used a wafer thermostat and heating element. I bought a bathroom vent fan for circulation.

Everyone has these ENORMOUS bators. A girl could get into serious trouble with one of those. My hubby and I made this one and just hatched some babies from it. We were amazed it worked!! I tell ya one thing, the wafer thermostat is worth its weight in some sort of expensive metals. It kept the temps within .3 of a temp change and our hygrometer is bangin too! I think it's texas instruments. I know it was made for instruments.

The pc fan is a must too. That really kept the humidy at bay and was only $2. The key is ventalation. We added four holes and I corked them with

corks and I perfected the humidty by half corking one hole with a pen cap. Hey!! whatever works
All the stuff costed us about $50 but we got it slowly and it was worth it. This thing is right on. The wafer was, 25 by itself. and the hygromety was 15, I believe.

My 48 qt igloo cooler bator.
Most of the parts I had laying around the house, used a discarded cooler.

Its worked fine, hatched 4 times this year.

I have 2 hovabators, 1 LG and my daughter made a styrobator a la MissPrissy.

I have never understood the need for glass doors. When the eggs are incubating all you can see is the eggs. When they go in the hatcher on the 17th day they should be hatched in the dark so that when they exit the shell they sit quietly and and do not start seeking food and water as they would in a lighted condition. The hatcher should not be opened until the end of 21st day when all will have hatched, dried off and be ready to put in the brooder.

Here is a home made hatcher DH made for around $75.
