Post picture of your turkeys!

R2elk,

Thanks. I figure all of them are mutts and for the price I am ok with that. Want to get some experience under my belt before spending $$$ on some purebred birds. My interest is in the darker birds. Wondering what they could be.

Turkeys are so different than chickens. They are the most inquisitive animals I have raised. The BBB birds I have stick their heads into what ever I am doing.

Regards

James Hardeman

Hello. We recently bought some poults from a feed store. The fellow there thought they were Narragansetts and Slates. The Narragansetts are 5 weeks old and the Slates are 6 weeks old. One of the Narri's has different markings. Any ideas on what they may be or what type of mix? We have these 5 and 4 BBB that are 16 weeks old. Those are all hens and are growing massive. They will soon join their cousins (15 roosters that were packing peanuts in the BBB shipment) in the freezer. The 5 just bought will be breeding stock for heritage birds. Thanks Hardemans
If your asking about marking on turky standing inthe 2nd pic. That Is a narri hen. Toms will look More like a bronze. The slate in the first pic looks like a jake to me

We do think he is a jake also, He is larger than the other slate, head is more bald, and he will display from time to time.

It looks like I have two jake Narri's and a hen. One will be happy and the other will get invited to lunch at some point.

hi yall, has anyone else has a turkey that changes color not the head but the feathers,i will show u what i mean, not a trick photo, the real deal,he goes from a brown to a light brown, silver then gold, now he has black-purple feather starting to grow out from his wings, what kind of turkey do i have? october january march may july,,,,turkey of many colors,i guess hes one of a kind
Beautiful tom love the changes in his colors. I font have auburns but have a few chocolates. Early in the year they start out dark colored. But a time goes along they continue to lighten up. Sun seems to fade their feathers out pretty good.

Has anyone crossed Bourbon reds with Standard Bronze turkeys? If so, do you have a picture of the cross?

According to the result from Porter's Turkey Color Calculator, a bronze and bourbon red mating will produce all red bronze poults.

Crossing a red bronze with a red bronze will produce bronze, red bronze and bourbon red.
