Thanks fluffy, we were doing some work in his pen today and man he was really showing off, the girls didnt seem impressed but he even gave a few attempts at the caterwalling, so I am thinking he his starting to get the idea that it may be close to time for him to do his thang.
Thanks Kev, he is just a normal IB but he is ornery as the dickens. I got two and both are males, altho the other is such a sweetie and this one is a devil. They were late August hatch, and looked to be in trouble with the cold once it hit, thus, inside they are til a bit of a warmup. Also my friend lost her younguns that were same age and she had a coop for them with a heat lamp even, which I did not, so I started keepin an eyeball on em, and to my soft touch, soft hearted eye, they looked cold.
They have been really good, but are really getting antsy now.
I caught this pic purely by accident back in the late fall, thought it was cool.
Hmm, okay here is why I wondered that one had too much blue.. here's pics of a normal black shoulder and a midnight male (they are siblings, btw)
I talked to a friend who owns the parents of these birds tonight(to make sure I was not being *too* hasty) and he confirms none of the midnights he has show any blue on their necks. They have a neck color that is much closer to Bronze neck color than to a Blue neck color.
Here's also excellent pictures on Conner website that shows how the colors really look like in person:

Love all peafowl. If it were not for IB we wouldn't have so many other colors! (nearly all current peafowl mutations first showed up in IB)
That is an awesome pic too.. looks like he is doing a I am Batman! jump.
Have tried on purpose to catch peafowl in flight and none ever came close to being as good as yours! If you like flight pics, be sure to check out Kat's(peachick) pictures, she has many excellent pictures of flying peafowl. Really love the one of her IB peahen flying, one of my favorite peafowl pictures.
