I live in Arizona. The only issue here is heat...I shortened the wall to make sure enough air circulated for my girls.

Hi everyone! We chose to build our coop within the professionally built dog run's that are on the north side of our south facing garage. Their were 5 runs with cement floors and the chain link is buried into the cement and each run as covered in chain link as well. My husband took out the chain link dividing the three inside runs but left the two outside runs intact. He left the support posts and crossbars on the inside part of the runs which our girls like to perch on sometimes. The two windows are sliders so they get lots of ventilation in the summer. We have had a couple of nights that the temperature hovered near zero but the temperature in the coop was still about 20 degrees.










We started out with barn metal that we already had and it was totally enclosed by the dog run. However, after trying to clean it and not being able to stand up straight we decided to make a change. So my husband got busy and "revamped" the design and this is what it turned into. The roosting perch is now the bar above the window as they kept jumping up there so my husband put a board up there so they weren't standing on that cold bar.

Looks good! And I see that you have hardware cloth low to keep coons from reaching in. Smart.

Yes, anywhere I could see much space between the gates we put hardware cloth. I think our girls are pretty well protected, at least while they're in the coop and that part of their run. They free range during the day but only when my husband is home. They have an area outside the dog run that we strung up poultry netting over. He leaves them in there when he is gone.

I really like your setup. I love the space in your coop. I'm sure someday I'll upgrade again but my next change on this setup will be a walk under run cover like you have.

I like the green alongside that simple but beautiful door you made. Is it just stained pine or something more fancy?

Why are their strings running across the length of the floor? 

I'm pretty sure the strings are actually a light reflection.
