post your chicken coop pictures here!

we haven't had a problem with predators (only my old neighbor with altimeter ate my last flock but he's no longer with this world ) I have 3 black lab's they keep most things out. My neighbor in the back has lamas to he keeps them lose in the day time. The only thing I worry about is 2 egals that fly over every few days, but we are close to the Mississippi River and they are all ways with fish in there claws.
Sounds like a great set up. Never thought of Llamas as guardian 'dogs', lol

I can't think of what else you could do to make your coop more attractive. I bet it is nice and cool when the grape vines leaf out.

Putting the finishing touches on the new coop. It has a sliding coop door, multiple windows and vents to open/close depending on the season, a hatch for the clean out tray, and 2 German Shepherd puppies to watch over its new inhabitants

Now I remember! -- the neighbor who ate your last flock! That was so weird and unbelievable -- must've thought he could save on his grocery bill while eating up the money you put into your flock -- some people! You have some farm equipt in your field that the poultry can hide under - raptors won't go after hiding hens even when they can see them. Raptors don't seem to fight on the ground w/ their prey -- they prefer swooping down w/ talons and grabbing like the fish you mentioned. 3 Labs! That's great!

The dogs will be a plus! Have you had Sheps before?
For rainy days you might think about some paver stones to stand on so as not to sink in mud when collecting eggs. We paver-stoned all around our first coop to help keep out rain water and to to have a solid dry area to stand on when getting to the eggs.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've already seeded the area inside and around the coop with grass and clover. That should cut down on the mud as well as give the chickens some tasty forage material. And yes, those 2 pups are actually from our most recent litter. They're waiting on homes, so I let them play in the back yard while I'm out. Our oldest shepherd is 5 and his mate is 4.

So you breed them then? That's great! I love GSDs, I've always wanted one but my dad thinks they're aggressive. One day. Lol
