added a roof to my 8x12 run after a big rain storm this winter left it a mud pit. Used 2 2x10s at 10 feet long cut diagonally to make 4 slanted rafters. 6 treated 2x4x12s for purlins and 6 sheets of metal roofing that was 12 feet long. Total was about $200 with screws and other items added to it. Worth it to keep the run dry I think

Very nice. I am going to have to do something like that also.

So glad to see the birds have some protection.A paver stone block under that metal pail will help keep the corrosion down too. Do you wear boots to go to the collection box in the snow? We built a patio roof over our coop so we don't have to stand in rain when opening the egg box lid.
