post your chicken coop pictures here!

We let ours out to free range some, too, but they are easy to wrangle and get back into the run. The other day all I had to do was walk outside and they came running. Followed me, and a couple led the way, back to the coop and run. They won't come if they are in the middle of a dust bath under the porch, but if they are just pecking around, they come pretty well.

You can teach them to come to you by feeding them a treat each time you call them. Then they learn that coming equals tummy yummy!

Yep. We coax them with a fist full of meal worms. They are very easy to round up. We only let them free range when were home. Trying to keep the hawks from getting our girls. We let the free range in the am and pm unless were off and then it's almost all day.

My birds run to me when I am outside, I wonder over to the coop and throw a handful of scratch or BOSS into the coop and the minute one of them goes in for the snack the rest will follow. They are way too curious (nosy) to let one of them have a snack without it becoming a community event.

Here is an update on my Chicken Palace.

Got some used metal from a friend for the roof.

After getting the roofing done I started on the baton strips and window trim. All the rough lumber was obtained from a local lumber yard.

Time for some stain and what a difference it made. I hade 11 gallons left from the last time we refinished the house and man did it fit.

Got an old nesting box from my sister. It needed some work but for free and a couple cans of spray paint I think it's a beauty. You can also see part of the roosting bars, I used some saplings from around the coop for a natural feel.

All I have left is to cover their run and put a couple steps in.

Nice job!! I love those metal nest boxes, wish I had room for some.

That roost assembly looks to be a little too steep, you don't want them pooping on each other.

I was thinking the same thing about the steepness of the roost. There appears to be plenty of room to "scoot" the roost out and lessen that....chicken poopies...eek!
