That's just awesome!!! I'm a huge believer/fan in getting kids involved in learning about livestock this way - where their food comes from - how to care for animals, etc..Urban farming at its best!! I wish we would be able to free range ours...but alas...no!We have two small dogs and a cat. They all free range with our chicks! Everyone gets along great. I think it helps that we had the chicks living in our house for a couple weeks. I also a have one year old and four year old and the chicks love them too. I can't believe how well they just fit into life.
How do you get them to go back in during the "in-between" time?Yes it really has been a great experience. The baby wakes up and says, "chicky chicky." I really would have never expected to injoy this so much. We only let the girls out when we're in the yard because we have lots of animals that would like to eat them here. But they get out twice a day and I just love seeing all my household playing together. Good luck to you too. Have a great day!
