post your chicken coop pictures here!

@Teila @Sylvester017 Yeah they are only 3 weeks old right now. We are building a run that goes all the way down the side of the house. My mom bought everything for me as a Mother's Day gift. I'm just thankful for what I have to start out

Your expansion will be appreciated by your birds. Our chickens ultimately were our barometer for what we needed to have for them. We started with a 4x6 coop for 2 Silkies and it was too confining for them. Before a month went by we started giving them free-range in the backyard for a couple supervised hours. Now 4 years later they free-range all day w/o supervision and we've set up a couple low plywood shelters on cinderblocks, a popup canopy for shade, 4 recycled doghouses, and plants spaced around the yard for them to snooze/hide in from hawks. We once watched 4 hens dive simultaneously into a doghouse when the resident Cooper's Hawk dropped by! He/she wouldn't go after the hiding hens even though she could see them - darnedest thing! As for stray cats our hens chase/attack them and they don't come back into the yard.

After 4 years we've finally been able to upgrade to a Barn Coop on wheels from ChickenCondos.com but weather currently is not permitting us to finalize assembly. We are having to completely repaint/weatherize it because of some scraped damage from shipping. Chickeneering never is a finished project. We always lookout for discarded items in the neighborhood to salvage. We just picked up our 4th recycled doghouse in a yard sale last weekend.

Noting wrong with affordable!! Chickens don't know if they live in a fancy 5 star hotel or a "basic needs" hotel. They will be happy in either an long as their needs are met. The 5 stars are more for the people who look at them in the yard than they are for the chickens anyway.

Your chickies appear to be a Sexlink hybrid that carries various names like Cinnamon Queens, Golden Comets, Isa Browns, etc etc.

Do your ducks sleep outdoors or are they like chickens and go into their housing on their own at dusk to roost?

Wow, Thanks so much for helping us identify the little brown ones! We started reading up on all of the sex-link hybrids and were wondering if you think they could be Red Shaver? Also, our ducks have a small metal goat shelter. We want to build a large hinged door for the front of it to put them up at night, but haven't done it yet.

The Poulet Chalet.. We are referring to it as the Chalet because of the Rosingol ski's attached to the bottom of the coop!

Back side just needs the top and the back door but ima do that after I attach it to coop....then ima slap some barn red paint on abd it'll match my brooder coop and breeding pen..I'll post pictures tomorrow of what the back wall did look like...remind you my coop is built out of a 4'x9' metal dog kennel...I'm just remodeling wall by wall making it prettier to look at..started with the back cuz you'll see tomorrow how the old back wall came out...trying to wire wood nesting box doors to metal

We don't have a rooster to 'gaurd' the hens but our Corgi (a hearding breed) watches over them like a rooster would. He has ever since we brought the chickies home. Then again maybe he just wants their poop to eat!
