post your chicken coop pictures here!

Why, Baba Yaga? How old is that folk tale? Wiki says the earliest 'official mention is 1755, which means it was probably around for a few centuries before that. All peoples have wierd/funny/scary folk tales that sound odd to people not raised to think they're normal. I'd bet good money that there isn't an ethnic or national group on the planet that doesn't have crazy old folk tales as part of the culture.

Yes, I have 1 Ameraucana Roo (I think he is actually an EE though. Bought him from Cal Ranch store supposed to be an Ameraucana), 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 Ameraucanas (also think they are actually EE's aslo bought from Cal Ranch), and 1 Black Australorp.

Nice! Is that grassy area a sort of secondary run?

Yeah, I like to let them wonder my whole yard, but If I have family/friends over, decide to go out of town, etc. they are confined to the main (which has a door and gets locked down at night because of predators) and secondary coop areas so they still have a good amount of space to wonder in. The chickens really love the cool grass especially since we are in the triple digits of summer.

I did sort of the same thing; created a secondary area under a tree on my lawn, to help get through the heat. In my case, I needed to use about a 16' chicken tunnel from the regular coop/run to this area. You are right, the grass may not last, but it really helps cool them after it is hosed down.

The extra 12x10 run addition is done! Next project staining the coop after modifying run roofing

Here is our coop that we built out of pallets. My husband and I are the opposite of handy, so I'm so proud of ourselves. We saw a similar coop online and just went off of their pictures to build our own. Our only tools were a drill, staple gun and jig saw, so I'm really pleased with how it turned out. :)
