Here's mine, its total 4'x8' floor with 2'x2' nesting boxes on the ends. The center is 4' high with 1 roosting bar. The exit/entry door is 12"x12" and the ramp was built from scrap Lumber from another project. Total cost for this setup was aprox $200.

Here is my updated coop and run layout. Two log cabin coops with attached runs. Finally finished on the newest but bringing in dirt and replanting herbs.

I bet no one around you complains about how your coops fit in with the neighborhood (if there IS a neighborhood!).

Might want to consider 1/2" hardware cloth around the bottom so no raccoon arms can reach in and behead a chicken.

We got 2 great starter coops from Urban Coop Co. but we ran out of space. We had to take apart, add to them and redesign the inside. It now has 4 large boxes, 6 perches, & open rafters. Measures roughly 5' H X 8'L X 6' D.

Mine isn't finished yet. I needed to focus on functionality since I had to get the girls (and 1 boy) outside. I plan to expand at some point or build a 2nd coop, haven't decided yet. I wanted an 8wx8lx6h but it was more than I could afford so for now I have a 4wx8lx6h. In the pictures it kind of looks a little crooked but the building itself isn't (I used a level), the roof is tilted because I needed a water runoff. I built it myself with a little help from my ex (stuff I wasn't strong enough to do or couldn't do without help) and my son (he had a lot of fun). I took progress pictures all through it, but here are the pictures from today. I still need to make the corners look better, paint it, contemplating adding another window, fix the screen on the door, but it serves its purpose! The plywood is a temporary spot of shade. I need to do something else at some point.

Please ignore the construction debris as it's still under construction. I've tried to keep everything in "neat" little piles for easier clean up.

Here are a couple of part of the inside (you can't see one of the girls in the pics, there are 6 girls and 1 boy in there right now):

no raccoon worries here, they go in before dark and are locked in with a stainless steel door or a wood door weighing close to 15 lbs or more.

Oh and we have only 1 neighbor back here. we are 1/4 mile back in the woods so every possible thing I can do to deter critters from getting them is done. the coops match the house thanks to my hubby suggest we use landscape timbers.
