Don't know how old your chicks are but the ramp is too steep and the cleats are WAY too far apart even for adult birds. They can't go up without sliding back down and won't want to use it leaving, again due to sliding. Both easily fixed. Bruce

we decided to start raising chickens as a way to get our kids out of the house. for the most part it has been a family affair........or at least the fun parts !....LoL. When we are all home in the evening we sit in the chairs and relax for a bit. my daughters is inside the run. she wants to be with the chickens...

my new coop

Actually BOTH coops are nice. Put some kind of locks on the pop door and the egg collection box.
We double clipped all our entrances. Maybe a Raccoon can minipulate one lock but not two at the same time!
If you recall I'm the one that posted we saw a goat-sized Raccoon coming out of our neighborhood city storm drain and none of the neighbors even knew we had them around!

SItting with them is good for the chickens as well - good socialization! As long as she hasn't been in someone else's chicken coop to bring home a malady to her chickens or vice versa.

I have a friend with chickens but I won't go into her pen to possibly contaminate either hers or my flock. Good bio-security practice that is lazily skipped or ignored by many newbies to chickeneering.

Worms/lice/mites/scaly leg preventative health maintenance is routine but chickens can still pick up bacterial or viral infections brought to them. It's one reason I want a treadle feeder to keep the wild birds out of my free-range organic feeder since wild birds carry all sorts of transferrable maladies. Even penned chickens can't escape the stuff cute wild birds bring into our yards.

I saw your chairs yesterday and went out and bought two heavy folding chairs for our yard. We have an Adirondack cedar chair to assemble in a package but couldn't wait to relax in some kind of chairs immediately LOL!

Here is a picture of our coop. There is a link in my signature that has a lot more pictures of it too.

Put a double clip lock or some kind of safety locking device on the egg box as that is an easy entrance for crafty Raccoon predators. They are nocturnal so you'll never know you have those critters and chickens are too sleepy at night to sound an alarm that a predator is in their coop.

Nice Amish coop knock-off! Wish we had some carpentering skills! Nice roof over the egg collection box. You'll appreciate that on rainy days!
