post your chicken coop pictures here!

Can't see all the angles of your nice coop so can't see how much ventilation there is. We had 3 days of suffocating heatwaves and humidity to the point I had to bring one hen into the house she was panting and making noises at roost. We removed the tarp from the 3 wire walls and even opened the egg collection door for air because the humidity was so high. It helped a lot but one of us had to watch from the sliding door while the coop was open. Don't know how humidity is in Sugar Land but you might want to have more ventilation drop lids for humid weather. Even clean coops can emit harmful odors to chickens' respiratory systems so the more ventilation lids the better. We're considering adding a screen door in addition to the people door on our next coop.

For everyone who's been replying to this great thread:

Love it!

And chickens smell bad too, if you believe the public. All depends on what kind of setup you've got. The better half's parents have had some sheep over the summers at their cottage, and with a decent sized enclosed area, they've been just fine.

If chickens smell bad they aren't being cared for properly. Ducks on the other hand love to build up pond scum to dive for the algae and that's messy.

We had sheep and goats. They were the regular sized ones - not the miniatures - however we visited a zoo where a miniature goat ate my toddler's ponytail up to her ribbon and we were pulling wet hair out of the goat's throat! The sheep like to surprise you from behind with butting heads. The goats were just obnoxious eating through gates, car bumpers, bike tires, tools, leather tack, clothing hanging on the clothesline, breaking into the vegetable garden. Nothing short of strong metal gates can keep those guys where they belong and the expense of good fencing isn't worth keeping them IMO. It's an animal people quickly get tired of upkeeping. I personally don't care for their milk taste.

Whereas we could stake our Holstein cow in an unfenced pasture and she was perfectly content to graze. Our only problem with her is that she gave WAY too much milk, had to be milked twice a day at least, and we had dairy coming out of our ears and cheese hanging everywhere in the porch. Had to sell her. She was easy care but too much milk for a family of 4 - that's why the miniature cows would've been great if they were affordable.

:frow That is absolutely so cool...:celebrate ..I tried to get my dh to let me use our swing set but for some reason he didn't want me too. All the grands have outgrown it...!  It would have been so much easier.....

Sweet idea... To bad I don't have a swing set lol... If everything goes right though I will have 2, count them TWO, coops before the end of the weekend... One we build last weekend but it's to small so we will turn it into the broody/nursery coop and the one I drew plans up for yesterday (if my husband

s it) will have a solid 32square area just to roost and the big yard is fenced off for them to range.. I know that's only 3.2 per for each bird but with the yard and a second lv it should be ok...

The perfect run for my coop. Narrow and long. Kudos
