Pictures still arent working but this is the hester i bought and others simply use a bird bath deicer or aquarium heater, lots of options.

I just use a koi pond de-icer in there 5 gallon bucket waterer wih water nipples on the bottom

How do you keep it from freezing in the winter?

In SoCalif we are in an area that doesn't get below freezing -- cold, rainy, windy, but never freezing. I've been reading some posts and watching youtube where people have had heated water bowls for their chickens and still come out to the coops to find the water frozen on top even with heated bowls. Sorry, but can't advise anything regarding winter water problems and only know in our mild to hot climate the Brite Tap jugs work great year round.

Yeah I think I'm going with the Brite tap jugs and will figure the freezing thing out later.

Well I think that's the way I'm going to go. i don't mind the expense of its best for the girls!

There are many types of nipple valve waterers as jugs, buckets, bottles, etc. A search on Google will bring up a lot of sites. Some owners construct their own buckets or PVC lines with nipple valves. It all depends on what type of watering station you want with nipple valves. I chose the Brite Tap (suggested use is for a dozen total birds) because we have only 4 hens and don't need a large water system for our backyard free-range birds.

You may want to quote the person/coop you're referring to so people know which one you're asking about

And as long as the birds are comfortable, happy, and healthy, and/or have at least 4 square feet per bird inside the coop (usable floor space, not including nest boxes or feeders and waterers) then the size of the coop doesn't really matter

No problem!! It's okay, we all make mistakes! I still do and still don't know how to do a lot of stuff and I've been on and off the site for years lol it's okay
