But the hatchery was insistant that they be removed within a week so their legs wouldn't grow too big for the bands. I thought about those, but i hate the thought of having to cut them off my ducks...they just dont sit still long enough to cut them off. Thats why I liked those other ones...what do you use to cut them off your ducks?

The zip-ties are easily cut with something like nail clippers or manicure scissors. I can put them on & cut them off by myself, especially with the ducklings, even though they'd rather not be held for the procedure. It's even easier if one person holds the duck & another one puts on/takes off the ties.

[Muscovy Man]

I have six Muscovys (three females and three males) and here are their names with basic bio about them.

Let us start with the hens. Their names are Tibi, Ester and Jr. Miss.

Tibi- Tibi's full name is Tiberius and was named after James Tiberius Kirk the caption of Star Trek, because we thought she was she was a boy. But as she began to look more more feminine we shorted her name to Tibi. She is the best flier of the flock and has a black birth mark on her back near her right wing. She also is the matriarch and once she starts moving the other ducks follow her. She is skittish and timid around humans and stays away from people.

Ester- Ester was named in honor of my grandmother which who's middle name is Ester and my dad decided to name a duck after her. She will only let you touch her if you give her treats first and if you run out of treats she will leave to be herself. Also is a little nervous around people. She is close friends with Jr. Miss because if she is around Jr. Miss, she is more confident and doesn't become as nervous easily.

Jr. Miss- Jr. Miss was originally named Jr. then we realized she was a hen and so we added 'Miss' to her name. When she was a duckling, she was the smallest of the batch and still is today. She is more bold and curious then the others and is the only hen that you can pet and love on. When there is something out of the ordinary, she is always the first one to investigate it. She has bonded to me and wont let anyone else love on her.


Now lets meet the drakes. Their names are Amour, Ping and General Lee.

Amour-is the friendliest of all the ducks and always has been. He loves to be petted just about everywhere. When I am with the ducks, he waddles to me asking for attention by wagging his tail and his favorite treat is dandelion leaves. He also has cute little black freckles on his bill and sadly he got kicked out of the flock. He hangs out by himself and prefers the company of humans over ducks.

Ping- Has bipolar, because he can all nice for a moment and then he can be really mean. When he is mean, I just tell him "It's okay, everything is going be alright." and repeat that several times and he eventually
settles down.

General Lee- Is the mean and nasty one. He wants to be the patriarch and sometimes the other ducks will follow him but they prefer follow Tibi. He is short tempered and has the most caruncles on his head (they reach down to his neck!!)
