My friend taught me. Take a long needle, I use the pointy side of a safety pin, straighten out a little. Gently wiggle it to pierce the blunt end of the egg now try to make the hole a little larger than that hole.

Also you have to put the pin in and wiggle it around a bit to kinda scramble it just enough to break up the yolk or you will never blow it out. Now make a hole on the pointy end, which end you start with doesn't really matter. Now blow the smaller hole side and it will ooze out, it is hard at first if it is too hard make the hole sightly larger. OK?

Guess I'll add my first egg from my D'Uccles since I already have the pic uploaded for another thread:

I thought it was quite well-formed and purty for a first egg!

Hi everybody!

I work at Sunset magazine, and we're raising six hens as part of a story on local food. (Really local food. Your-own-backyard food.) We love this forum, and I come here constantly to figure out if our girls are behaving normally. (They are, pretty much:))

Last week, we finally got an egg!

It's from one of our Ameraucanas, Ophelia. (That big brown thing in the background is our decoy egg, which is an egg-shaped paperweight made out of marble. But it seems to be working!)

Our second egg was almost more amazing, because I found it when she was still in the nesting box:

She seemed dazed, and stayed there for a few seconds before hopping down.

WOO HOO!

First egg and I think it's from Bedelia, one of my golden lace wyandottes.

Just as I discovered the egg, she came running up the ramp, clucking like crazy, bragging about her accomplishment. I petted her and she did a strut back down the ramp, continuing the clucking!!!

The other two just watched her.

Bedelia is just 2 days short of being 25 weeks old. I really didn't expect anything until after rainy season subsided a bit.
I'm so proud of her! I wish I had seen her do it or picked up on any pre-egg laying "signs"!

got my first RARE (LOL!) egg today!
This is the first day I've had more than 2 eggs. Look at the strange little faded looking one! The biggest one had a raised band on it.
