I have a question. My pullet layed her first two eggs one after another, then no egg today? Is it normal for her to skip a day so early into her laying? I just want to make sure she's not egg bound.

Easter Eggers lay green eggs. DO you have a pic of the suspected chicken? Nice assortment of eggs also

I only have this buff Orpington. It may be because it is her 1st egg. My Cochins dont lay that size. They are the white ones in the pic above. I will try to get a better picture.

It's perfectly normal for her to skip a day. It takes awhile for them to find their rhythm. Even when they do, they often skip days. My red star lays every day. My americauna lays 4 or 5 days and skips a day. My EE lays 3 or 4 days and then skips a day. On average it takes a chicken 26 hours to lay an egg. so each day the chicken lays a little later in the day. If she doesn't get to lay her leg before nightfall, she'll skip that day and start laying early the next day, starting the cycle all over again.

They're so amazing!

EE dropped the first one in the run yesterday and it went unnoticed. It was a little odd shaped. The second one was dropped in the coop this morning and is a perfectly shaped olive green egg!
They were both tasty and the shells were hard as a rock. I just started putting oyster shell in the run last week.
They were laid at exactly 19 weeks. We added 2 hours of light in the am and pm and that apparently does work. We have a BR and a RIR that are the same age that have been doing the squat for a little over a week. They started doing it a day or two after the EE, so we should have more eggs shortly. Our Buff Rocks and our Australorp don't show any sign of squatting yet.
