Ruby, my Easter Egger Americauna, laid the very first egg of the flock today! I was so happy to see it! Tomorrow, green eggs and ham! [COLOR=B42000] [/COLOR]

such a pretty girl!!! Lovely egg!

i have a easter egger and she was laying every day for 6mths then she stoped it has been 3 mths since she gave me an egg, i also have 41 other hens rir and sexlicks but only get 16 eggs a day, the most i have got is 22 they are all a year old, the black sexlicks lay good i have to take them out of nest to get eggs, i have 15 nest boxes but they only like 6 of them, sometimes most eggs are in same nest. we do have 1 roos also have 2nd coop with 3 nest in that one but the most i have found in there is 4 eggs.

Actually this is the 2nd egg from my Rhode Island Red named Ginger. Her first was laid on the ground of their run and pecked and eaten by the ladies. I put golf balls in the nests yesterday and found this one this morning. Not sure if the golf balls played a part but they sure confused my Easter Egger who stayed up late night talking to the golf balls and clucking up a storm.

It amazes me how they talk to things! Our girls tend to "raid the fridge" late at night, so now and then one is on the floor of the coop when their light goes out! She can't see the roost, so she'll wonder around in there "chicken necking" and muttering until she gets enough "echo location" or feedback from the other three girls and they move aside so that she has a nice clear area to fly up to! If she takes too long, one of us goes out and turns the light on until she gets up on the roost and settles in for the night. I know all this because I check them on my laptop via a camera in the coop.

Wow! I thought I had it bad! LOL, I sit outside for hours watching ours. It's awesome you can do that!
