Now, I get to join the 1st Egg Club. My 5-month old Easter Egger is first of my 8 pullets purchased 05/26/2011. Her name is Goldie and my egg story is here.
Just got my first egg. Its from my 25 week old BO named Suki. On Sunday I noticed that when my cockeral grabbed her neck feathers she squatted, and a couple of hours later I saw him on her trying to do the deed. Monday afternoon i then noticed someone had been in the nesting boxs and tried to make a nest, she pushed out the golfball and the same for tuesday and wednesday. 5 days later, I get this little egg, it was on the ground nest to the human door enterance in the corner. I almost didn't see it, it blended in with the wood shavings, I was looking for the golfball.
Here it is next to a large storebought egg. I never realized pullet eggs would be so tiny.
WooHoo!!! We finally got an egg... Ms. Bea my silver sussex not only gave me 1 egg but I found 3 others tucked in the corner. So I am not sure when she layed them but I believe we are getting one a day thus far Are they still good?
. It from the same chick--my er Egger Goldie. I posted a heart warming in my story about the event in my blog . Seems roosters play a role I have not read about. He has done he same for both times and then announces the BIG event along with the chick that laid the egg--touching. Also received my egg carton labels from ADozenGirlz [Kathy] here on this board. Thanks! --jim
