Post your import breed wishes here....

Rightio, I'm in the UK. And happen to keep a few breeds that have been mentioned.

Cream Crested Legbars in both Bantam and Large Fowl.
Double laced and Blue Laced Barnevelders
Cuckoo Marans
Buff Orpingtons
Chamois Frizzle Polish
which I have in breeding pens at present.

Then later this year, Light Sussex, Silver Grey Dorkings, Lakenvelders, White Bantam Silkies, bantam Leghorns in Black, Blue and Lavender.
Might also have Lavender Orpingtons of Priscilla Middleton's lines.

Poss Salmon Faverolles and Vorwerks.
and maybe a few others yet.

The problem on exporting really is coming down to having to pay for a DEFRA vet to come inspect birds. I am going to contact my local office in the morning to find out what the cost actually is, but I can't see it being cheap at all.

This is what I see is the block in the way of the door.
Most of us haven't the money to pay such a huge fee merely to send eggs to the us when we can sell on uk soil. It's not that we have anything against sending out eggs, But the cost of getting the vet cert, which by sounds would need doing for each batch of eggs sent? Would run costs up high for us breeders who really genuinely haven't got it to pay.
I wish I did. It would be us breeders having to foot this cost, Just to send out eggs. Where as, most don't have need for a vet apart from rare illness from colds or injuries. And even then, most self treat or cull.
Large 'Buisness' Style breeders may well be able to, as they would need DEFRA inspection if producing for the egg or poultry meat market. But then, not going to have the breeds you'd want.

I'm getting my pair of lavender Orpingtons for £90. Yet hatching eggs on ebay are selling for £60 to £90 for 6 if from Priscilla Middleton's lines. Then no guarentees they would even hatch.
Hence me spending that money on a pair, I'll hatch all eggs from them. Keep some, swap some for other Lavenders and increase my own flock that way.

I dont remember what I wanted before but I have some new ones!
I would love the crele wyandottes they have in AUS, they look interesting.
The lemon cuckoo cochins look cool too.
Any of Grant Breretons wyandottes, I have his ebook and love it but I love his birds even more, lol.
Blue vorwerks/lakenvelders
Onogadori

And I have a new favorite- crele orps. I saw them on the-coop.org
http://www.the-coop.org/cgi-bin/UBB/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=002383
They have pics of a pair and a video of a trio of them, they are so cool looking. I know Buster is working on cuckoo/barred orps so if someone crossed those to lets say wheaton marans then you could get some creles. Or maybe work with the golden cuckoo marans (look crele to me) and breed them to some black orps and slowly work more towards the orp type then it would be awesome!

About the whole UK thing, I have had 4 people from the UK ask me if I would go through all the testing and all that so I could export some of my dun laced wyandotte bantam eggs. Before that they wanted solid duns but I dont have those anymore. You'd think they could make their own, I know they have chocolate over there and they probly have dun so they could make their own version, lol.
Its kinda funny, all these people in America wanting UK birds and only a couple UK people wanting American birds.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the #1 chicken on my import Most Wanted list is a Silver-laced Barnevelder bantam! I have a friend in the Netherlands who managed to get in touch with someone who knows the creator of this variety, and he forwarded her email to him... no reply yet; it's really just wishful thinking that I will someday receive a shipment of such eggs from Holland, nevermind successfully hatch a couple.

I was just on feathersite and saw the silver barnvelders. I have to have some of those. When I traded my first birds I got a bantam hen that had the same pattern, she looked like an OEGB and she had a black face and was one of my favorite chickens.

Have to phone my vet back tomorrow to find out how much the Vet Visit would cost to health check all my birds. And DEFRA are sending me out all the paperwork aswell.

I'm sure if wanted, I could be able to do this around end of spring/Summer. When my birds are in full lay.
