Postal System lost my chicks

There they are! The bird on the right is happily stretching it's wings after the long journey! They rested, ate and drank for a few hours, then started preening, and preening, and preening! The pic was taken shortly after they arrived, so they may look a little haggard. I will send more pics tomorrow!

In all my years of sending animals via USPS/airline/driving I have had the fewest issues with USPS, one wasn't their fault, the plane broke and the next flight was the next day. I had someone driving animals for me and their car broke and they were stuck getting repairs with birds in shipping containers for a few days, another had a car accident with animals, another had A/C give out during the summer, and I myself was in a car accident.

I almost always pickup my USPS shipped birds from the sorting facility, it is only 30 minutes from me and I get them hours faster.

YES!!
They got here this morning, 88 hours of no food and water- and they were slow and a bit shocky, but alive.

Thank God it all worked out. I'll be writing a letter to the administration of the USPS, because the documentation confirms that they were held up in that sorting/distribution center, even though they assured me numerous times they weren't there. Those were the folks who were rudest, one having hung up on me.

This won't end for me just because they arrived. They might never have arrived if I hadn't made so much noise and been so persistent. I don't want anyone else to go through this and I think the USPS does a GREAT job overall- it's clearly just this center, and they shouldn't employ people in consumer affairs that hang up on distraught customers.

But overall, I'm delighted!!

Same thing that happened to mine. I found it unacceptable that they held on to them in one place for so long. Good luck with the USPS, and I'm thrilled that the birds made it safely!

Micki, your birds are adorable, and thank you for sharing the pictures. Dare I say, it looks like you have 1 cockerel & the rest pullets, maybe?? And yes, Terry's really good to do business with.

Those birds are obviously really, really healthy. That says a lot about how they were treated prior to being shipped to you.

One cockerel and the rest pullets would work for me! Here they are today, feeling MUCH better! They have SO much energy now! I agree, I think it is a real testament to Lund Poultry and the care these birds received before being shipped that kept them alive, and also that they bounced back so quickly, especially the one that was so near death! Terry Lund also put in a LOT of time on the phone trying to find these birds. I don't know if I said it here or not already, but he was the one to actually find out exactly what happened. I love how the one bird standing in the feeder appears to have posed for the camera...lol. The bird in front looks to me like it may be starting to grow some saddle feathers, but of course I could be wrong. And that particular bird has a very calm disposition! In fact, all but the two littlest ones seem to already enjoy being held. The little ones are still more flighty, a protective instinct I'm sure. We are really enjoying them!
