Poultry and Dogs - Who Has Happy Pictures and Stories?

Thanks, this is our first Boston. I absolutely love the breed. Our last one died a year ago Oct. and he was very overweight. I vowed this dog would get no table scraps and I feed him good food.

I dont have a picture of them together but our Rottweiler loves his chickens. When they are babies he licks them and sorts them with his nose and general mother hens over them. He watches out for hawks and chases away anything that flies over by running and bellowing at them. He takes it all really seriously. On the plus side he is great if I think I hear something and we are inside I just let him out and he barrells over to his chickens to guard them. On the minus side we have to lock him up if we sell or heaven forbid butcher anything.
We sold a batch of turkeys live and when the guy was loading them onto his truck Orion was there howling and crying and bellowing. Kind of humiliating actually. 110 lbs of crying Rottweiler is not very impressive...

Here he is with my daughter. If you have read the childrens' books "Good Dog Carl" etc, then you know what we have.... Very concerned "parent" dog. When we adopt another child he will do the same routine where he constantly reminds us when we aren't parenting right. He is like the safety officer. He wont let the kids go sledding, he wont let us push DD too high in the swing... Hence the orange collar, its his safety patrol uniform.

What a beautiful dog. I've never seen a brindle Boston, but then I've not seen a lot of Bostons, period. He looks very fit. Good for you feeding him the right stuff. Most times it is so tough to be strong and not give ours treats when they plead with those eyes, those EYES. But we try to be strong and usually succeed.

I like to believe it's in the raising and the love and respect you show a dog, any dog. Have you had him since puppyhood?

We had this turkey, and when he free-ranged he never went with the other turkeys at night, he followed our dog around! He always was with our dog during the day! It's so sweet!

He is an english springer spaniel! He is 11 years old :O I think he's 10 years in that photo. He loves the chickens!
