Poultry Breeding & Showing Class in Sonoma County CA

Cheryl,
I just PM you about July 15 ..

Hi Everyone,
Happy Easter ... I didn't think this thread was still "alive" after our March meet up event

Perhaps we'll turn this into an annual meet up, seeing how we've done with our chickens in a year's time???

Clio, I think that is a great idea. Definitely something to look forward to. The continued learning AND the great socialization. Yay chicken people!

Happy Easter to you too,
Jules

Happy Easter Everyone.................

I subscribe to this forum thread so everytime someone posts I get a email showing it to me. I do that to the threads I visit regularly & try to kind of keep up. It is a busy chicken time of the year though & I don't post as often right now. I do enjoy reading what everyone is up to & getting acquainted with the new people too.
I would love for this to be an annual event

Well I got the rooster and he's not good enough sadly :( He has great form but he's too short for what I'm looking for.

However I found a great flock from another BYC member. They are being shipped to me at the beginning of May. I'm so excited. They are young at only 7 1/2 months but Walt thought they have great potential!! I'm getting these 2 roos and 2 nice big girls...

Hey There,
Anyone who got chicks from me at class, can you please check in with me if you haven't already? The chicks that I received that day from another member were sick, and unfortunetely were stuck in with my babies for the span of the class. Those received chicks have not have been thriving, are sick and a few have died. So I want to make sure that all of the chicks that you got from me are all healthy and thriving!
Do not panic. If the chicks you took home from me have been healthy and thriving this whole time, we should assume they are fine. I am just checking with you all as the sick chicks were put into the box with my chicks, and I want to make sure that those few of you have healthy chicks from me. Please write me immediately if you have had any trouble with my chicks. Or send/post photos of your growing little hooligans! I'd love to see!!
Thanks,
Dawn

Obviously Dawn is talking about the chicks that I brought to the class. I would never have brought chicks that were sick to the class, the little buff laced that Maureen got were fragile as they just hatched, I assumed.

That said, I did lose a few myself and some were not thriving & Maureen lost the 2 little ones she got. I've sent the 2 I lost to Davis, but assume it's nothing more than cocci or that with all the moving around they got a chill etc. That is the outcome I am hoping for.

I think you guys all know that I do my very best in hatching and raising these chicks, but sometimes things happen.

My reputation is everything and this is my passion.

Just to let you know - I did lose one of the Marans I got from you. I think it just was the weakest of the bunch & didn't handle the stress of travel very well. It didn't appear to be sick, but wasn't growing as fast as the others.
The rest are all doing fine & growing like weeds.
