There are several out on the market. The top ones need to be special ordered and cost a bit...worth every penny because of their easy-to-understand language and many color illustrations. What is your breed?Any one?

Exactly right, Dave. That's why I mentioned the "Genetics of Chicken Colours" book. It treats genetics with a parallel to making vegetable soup. i.e., different ingredients put into different bases (broths). Ingeniously written, easy for beginners to understand. Esp. with the profuse color illustrations and the latter part of the book having an encyclopedia of genetic formulas for each color w/illustrative pic. Before diving into genetics books, I would search the Internet for several of the poultry genetics sites in order to gain a basic understanding of genetic terms. Genetics, being a science is dependent upon a set of vocabulary that allows everyone to " talk the same language". There are many sites around the world that would be a good start. Don't jump into the more detailed or specialized ones to start off. Work on understand the terms first, then you can gradually move into the more specific info.
