I agree with shortgrass medications do have a funny effect on some of us. I know my mother if she on nightquil to stay far away or pain meds she starts getting mean. I am not nice on birth control neither is my best friend it effects our emotional side. She becomes cold and I get really moody. And try a can of years to get her bowel moving. Works like a charm on my kids.

:oops: I'm about to give Duckling more Albuterol. It's not changing her at all. :confused: I've given it to other children too. Never heard anyone have side effects.

Youight want to carefully read this then, as I'm not sure how a 2 year old would even be able to tell you if she feels "anxious" ;)

https://www.drugs.com/sfx/albuterol-side-effects.html

You mean that is why she keeps crying for absolutely no reason? Okay. I thought it was that she hasn't pooped in a week. (Actually, it probably is considering the timing)

:gig That is the oddest list of side effects I have ever seen. It is like they were high when they wrote it.

Lol well it makes me kinda paranoid to ever give it to the kids with just the possibility of arrhythmia! When they compile those, its a list of possibilities, not an absolute. It might make her cry and make me mad. Lol depends on dosage and physiology and pharmacology of the patient and the body it goes into. I'm hypersensitive, much like JF, so even birth control pills used to affect me horribly. I have to be really careful with certain medications, but DH can take steroids and not even blink while I'm turning into an axe murderer :p

I think it probably depends on the person, some people it won't affect at all and other people they might get every side effect lol

1 Corinthians 10New American Standard Bible (NASB)

13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

What is the difference between a trial and a temptation. With one of them, God wants us to rely on Him to help us get through or maybe He wants to be the only way we will be able to get through the problem. I think that one is "trial". He will not give us a way of escape until we turn to Him. A "temptation" appears to be different somehow because God is giving us a way of escape, that one seems to be a "test" and is a temporary problem and escape is our choosing to escape, we do not need God's help but wisdom to "see" the sin or trap. I think we need to understand the difference. God does on occasion give me more than I can handle.
I think there's a difference between being given more than we can handle, and falling when we get dealt that big challenge/temptation/hardship. I believe He won't give me more than I can handle, but, there are plenty of times, when I simply wimp out and choose not to seek Him, and choose to go my own selfish path. When my hubby was in ICU on life support, and I was facing a very likely outcome of becoming a widow at the age of 32 with a teen and tween child to raise, and 2 weeks shy of completing my associate's degree... That was a challenge, for sure. And I had many discussions with God, essentially telling Him that I was not ready to be a widow. How would I have responded if hubby had died? I feel confident that God would have given me the grace to deal with it. Would I have been mad at God? Perhaps. But, I would have scratched my mad spot, and moved on. I think God honors our heart felt emotions, even allowing us to express anger. Just like a child might get upset or mad at his father, that does not change the love between father and child.

Quote: Albuterol can have that effect. I sometimes need it along with an inhaled steroid when I get a respiratory illness. Albuterol can elicit a fight or flight response. I've seen it in children that I've provided therapy to. There's a fine line between needing the Albuterol to ease the airway bronchial spasms (a full blown asthma attack can kill) and taking too much, leading to arrhythmia and that fight/flight response. If one is that sensitive to it, it's essential that they get good medical care from a pulmonologist to get that asthma under control so they don't need that rescue med as often. Seeing a pulmonologist changed me from being sick all the time, every spring/fall/winter and sometimes summer to, to being under control, and only needing medication when sick, and then being able to start the steroid so the Albuterol was not a frequent thing.

Here is a portion of the Book of Job. Is Job in a "trial" or a "temptation" and where is Job's way of escape?

Job 1:13-19 NASB
13 Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 14 a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 and the Sabeans attacked and took them. They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 19 and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Job 2:7 NASB
7 Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

Here is an example of another "trial" or "temptation" from the Bible, is there a "way of escape"?

2 Samuel 11:2-5 NASB
2 Now when evening came David arose from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king’s house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance. 3 So David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” 4 David sent messengers and took her, and when she came to him, he lay with her; and when she had purified herself from her uncleanness, she returned to her house. 5 The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, “I am pregnant.”

I am thinking that both of you are missing what I am thinking, therefore ........................ If I recall, Job kinda failed that whole test since he had to be "chewed out" by God for being such a whiny spiteful godly man.... And David? He could have said "no" to adultery if he'd had his mind on God like it SHOULD have been. There was a huge way to escape there. But before we go on, you're attempting to force two English words and their definitions to override the fact that they can, in fact, be interchangeable... For example, when Jesus was being tempted by Satan, he quoted from the OT.. . Here's exactly what he says in Matthew 4:7 7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ Im thinking it was quoted directly from Deuteronomy 6:16 16 Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah. Unless I've found the wrong scripture, that to me looks like temptation can be the same as a test, depending on the circumstances and use of the English words... Should I go look at the lexicon and make sure this isn't just a mistranslation?

Here's where my brain was this morning after thinking about the effects of medications on our ability to resist temptation...

Or hormones, however you want to think of it...

How many men think it's perfectly OK for a woman to use the phrase PMS to excuse horrible behavior?

And how many women are guilty of being an obnoxious contentious female, forcing her poor husband up onto a rooftop..(or in my case, DH has a camper to escape to, not really funny after thinking about it)... All on the EXCUSE that they can't control themselves because of an overload of female hormones?

Is that the inability to resist temptation increasing because of hormones, or is it in fact, just an excuse?

How about menopause? Is that a trial, a test?... Is it a way for Satan to get in that hormonal brain and tempt your wife or mother to curse? Or is it just something that "can't be escaped"?

I know I'm going to get a bit testy, and so does DH, so yes, he has a camper to make his escape to so he's not tempted to yell at me, and he has a camper that I can chase him off to before I'm tempted to yell at him and blame hormones.

:p TMI maybe, but its the truth. We women have to guard ourselves a little extra during that time or it'll be easier to tempt us to sin. Not sober minded whatsoever when I'm all doped up on steroids or hormones.

It's not fairrrrr!!! :p

Yep, how different the world would be if only Sarah hadn't tried to do God's job! When i go to work, I get over an hour of uninterrupted worship time in the car. A lot of what I've been hearing this week, no matter what station I'm listening to is about love. Go figure! Even a 1/2 hour program devoted to Eros, and the importance of that love in marriage. Also, worthy of further meditation: Not only are we to love God, and our neighbor, but we are COMMANDED to love ourselves. Not an arrogant puffed up love, but because we are created in God's image. And because we are His sons and daughters. The balance comes when we see His total, redemptive love for us. When we know His love, we can learn how TO love. I'm not doing well at expressing this. But... It's humbling to know such great love He has for us. Matthew 22:37-39 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I agree we use pmsing as an excuse and it's become even acceptable as a means to get out of murder literally in some cases. The fact is we still responsible for our own action and if it take time to ask God for his help he helps but we have to remember he gave us a spirt of love of power and of sound mind. We have to use his gifts and promises. In some ways we can help it and others we can't but its like the breathing treatments I have to recognize when things are to blown up and when they aren't. Right now I am shaking and if the kids start fighting or throwing a fit I get mad and have to calm down so can handle them properly otherwise I am in the wrong.

Yep, that sums it up very well... I highlighted something in there...
SPIRIT, GIFT, POWER , ASKING GOD...

Those are our ways to either bear it or escape it. Gift of the Holy spirit, power of prayer, God will help. Temptation, test, trial...

For some reason I have Psalm 91 highlighted, and it fits nicely here.

Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
