Our church is going to take up donations for Michelle this weeka nd next week to help with the funds that will be needed. Not only will Michelle have several huge hospital bills but she will definately have to got o rehab after this ordeal, she may even have to live on the grounds of the rehab facility, and we all know that isn't gonna be cheap. But I thank you all for your prayers for they are extremely needed. I willcontinue to keep this thread updated as I receive the news.

Update as of May 27th.....Prayers are being answered.....AMEN!!!!!

We can't leave ICU until Michelle can breathe for 4 hours on O2 for two days in a row, we loose all the IVs, drop the pain meds to as needed only, loose the feeding tube, and keep her vitals somewhat normal. They are saying Tuesday is the goal. Then we'd go to LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) at CMC-Mercy downtown. They wea...n her from the trach then we go to rehab.

Michelle has been breathing without the vent and only 6 Liters O2 since 8am! They would like her to do this all day but 4 hours is what the goal is. She has to do this without getting her heart rate up and her sats down. So far so good. We believe she is swallowing now so they will be doing a swallow test this weekend.

Lord willing Michelle will pull through this.....but she will still have a long road to go with rehab that starts after this.

Prayers sent. My DH was hospitalized with this a few years ago. IVIG treatment was able to help him somewhat, stopping the progression. Unfortunately some lingering effects continue even now.

I had never even heard of it until the day I was able to convince him to go to the ER.
