Predator help.

Haven't had an electric fence in a while but the ones I did had a light on the battery's regulator that flashed as it sent a current through the fence. If the timing of the light slowed or stopped completely, the battery was dying or dead.

I've never used a battery powered fence, so if there are directions with the battery, follow them. Our electric fencing carries a big charge, and is for the livestock fencing, and is plugged into the electricity. This year we spent $$ for a whole house generator, because out in the country here, filling gas into the portable thingie has gotten old...

Got the electric fence up and running and it's working like a charm. Got a slight shock because I forgot it was linked up later in the day and went to open the run door and got a big shock on the wiring haha.

All I need now is to cover the rear and sides to water proof it, and tac some more predator proof mesh under the coop I missed, feel I'm being over the top...

sorry to hear it was humans. there sure are sick people out there.

on topic about keeping these people at bay, (just throwing ideas out there) would a guard dog work? i think electric fence is a great idea. but i would use a strong one.

am setting up some stuff on my northern land where predators are no joke. (mountain lions, black bears and wolves are common) (just googled search its about 7000 watts of power for bears) but am pretty sure that would keep people and predators away.

It appears you have things well under control. I have an AC fence charger but planning on getting a DC fence charger. I have a battery but not sure if it's big enough. I'm planning on putting a battery charger/maintainer on it that will keep the battery charged. I'll put it in the barn so it will be out of any weather. My coops are right behind the barn. We do loose power periodically. Lately not so much. But I'm going to be ready for the next time. We use the battery chargers/maintainers on our tractor batteries. They keep the batteries charged. This is similar but not exactly like the ones we have, but they work.

Only a couple of times? It's been a few times for me especially when I forget to turn it off. Since I had predator problems during the day, now I leave it on 24/7. I do have a switch next to the fence charger so I can disconnect the power if I need to.

How often do you forget to turn it off? I remember, because it's so -unpleasant- to hit it when it's on!

I do have a meter and every evening when I go out to collect the eggs I check the power. I'm good about that but once in a while I go out during the day to do something and find a spot that's not effecting the power but may if I don't correct it and oops. I usually remember but there have been times.
