The squirrel actually got some of our quails at night and the others during the day. Hope you figure out what happened!

That is a good idea! i think i will try that. but i am really starting to wonder as it didnt come by again last night.
When the bobcat came and killed 14 birds, it didn't come back the next night but did the following night and I caught it.

that is so crazy. did they only take the heads? because on mine the heads and necks were eaten and nothing (except one wing and a couple of bites of meat) were touched.
i am thinking maybe it could be a chipmunk because we have them here and they are small enough to fit through easily.
i am still going back and forth on a weasel but i just don't think one could fit through a half inch gap.

The squirrel took off some heads but only ate one quail. The rest he just killed and left. He dug under and dragged a couple around the yard.

A weasel can fit through a very small hole. Check out the videos on YouTube. Between a chipmunk and a weasel, and for you to loose like you did, and if they are there, my bet would be on a weasel and they are killers. They will keep coming back until there are no more birds. They are relentless. Put up a camera. Just curious. Good luck...

Not sure where you live but we don't have chipmunks in Florida. This is a weasel's range which include among others, mink. This is their range worldwide. To me this appears to be the works of a weasel type. I know they can be caught but we don't have them here. The critter's in the weasel/mink family are nocturnal. Hopefully you will find out.

yeah. i am in interior BC canada and i know they are here. that was my original thought but then i read they cannot fit in a hole under 3/4 inch so that is why i am second guessing it so much. i am trying to get my cameras up but both are not working :/ i do have a working one out in the back of my property but i dont want to take it down and i injured my foot pretty bad this morning and it is over a km walk.
i am hoping i will catch it tonight but it has been 2 nights since and no luck. even put some fish in it and nothing.
