Pregnant Barn cat.

That is why I have a contract that says if they cannot care for the kitten for any reason, at any time, to come bring them back. I'm also vet referencing.

What does this even mean? You'll have your organization find them?

As I said, they all have homes already. With fantastic people. The one woman just lost her 18 year old cat. You think I'm giving these kittens away willy nilly? I'm not.
The old lady could get a kitten that will die from a shelter… clearly you have never Really experienced a kill shelter and what go's on in there…. if you knew you would be thinking totally different about this situation….

It's what we're doing, moving her into the back room while she has her babies around and until she gets spayed. I wouldn't be keeping these kittens if the vet didn't tell me there was a risk in her dying from effects.
I've raised and rehomed kittens a few times. I had ONE kitten come back for a short stay while they got stuff around. I kept in contact with all the owners.
Posting this was a mistake. I don't need to hear everyone's opinions on kitten abortions and how I'm destroying the environment. I've already spoken with a shelter worker. She agreed with me and was glad to schedule an appt (to get her spayed) in 9 weeks from now. I spoke with my vet, who said at this point, aborting kittens who were kicking and moving was just cruel and puts my cat at risk. She also said she'd take one of the babies if there wasn't a home waiting for some reason. Don't act like I'm a horrible person for letting her have her kittens. Don't act like I'm ruining the environment, you're human. I guarantee you aren't perfect. I need barn cats. I'd rather not have traps and poison around the barns.
We weren't acting like your a horrible person. We respect your decisions like we respect everyone else's decisions to…. Yes we are ALL ruining the environment as we live everyday life….
And using the "barn cat" excuse is not very good… you want some barn cats? well go to the shelter and save a life… or you could just let the Wonderfull future "barn cats" go get gassed in a chamber and never know love… I understand why you want to save your kittens lives but in reality your not helping anyone except yourself….

@Sixbirds6 You are doing what is the right thing for you and your family, that is all that is important. By keeping her inside until she can be spayed and having found good homes for the kittens, you have acted very responsible IMHO. We must all do what is best for us based on our own family morality. You have done a good job with the issue you had to deal with. Hope all works well for you. :hugs

Wisdom is telling me to bite my tongue, but THIS post is the one that’s bringing me back from lurking for two whole years.
Hi there, future vet student here. Worked in two vet clinics and volunteered at several shelters. Extreme adoption advocate with several ex-strays to show for it.
With that being said, the two posters shaming the OP for this thread are making me sick to my stomach. YOU are what gives “crazy animal people” a bad name. I’ve assisted in spaying pregnant dogs, I’ve seen an entire litter of kittens and beautiful healthy dogs euthanized because there was no more room in the kennels and no fosters available. And all I can say is, it’s never black and white.
Yes, adopting out shelter cats would be much better than letting a barn cat have her litter. But this isn’t your damn cat, and those aren’t your damn kittens. Who are you two to tell someone they should kill the litter, without knowing any health background of the cat, vet opinions, homes lined up, and owner’s viewpoints on the matter. Yes, there is a HUGE canine and feline population problem in the US right now. I was nearly in tears talking to my husband about this recently. But shaming people like this is truly disgusting. It does not enlighten, it does not encourage, all it does is want people to have absolutely nothing to do with the movement that’s needs to be happening. You’re putting a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
I rolled my eyes when I read the first post, but after seeing where OP is at I have a huge amount of respect for them. How dare you criticize a caring owner who is making up for a mistake and planning for the future.
Kudos to you OP, very few people give a crap about their barn cats and even less would line up homes. On top of that, I have never heard of anyone willing to pay to fix an entire unplanned litter. Your choice is entirely justified, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And please don’t delete this thread, I personally think you are a shining example of a good owner.

And as for your cat, I would personally keep her contained until you can spay her. She will do just fine having them, them barn cats are TUFF. But you already know that.

Ok u definitely sound like a better care taker then ive seen. We dont mean to be aggressive with our opinions, however it sounds like we got more experience here... We have barn cats here. Too many for 10 acres. Im paying for 17 cats to be spayed and neutered/ vetted/ in order to be rehomed. That comes with the territory.

100% your not a student in any medical field. I never heard a vet say the word "cruel" when referring to spaying a cat whos pregnant. 100% of vets will say spaying a pregnant cat is not cruel. You forget that is a service they actually provide!!!! Lol

And to the orginal poster. If you don't want opinions of people don't post anything. you weren't on here looking for homes for them you were here to just post pics and act like you dis a great thing!!! Which is actually vefy insulting to people who are actually knowledgeable about what is really going on...

@Sixbirds6 and what i was saying is ill have the two organizations i work with (awa and a cat adoption) contant the shelters locally and find kittens for those 8 homes that where looking for cats.

Like i said dont be offend just. We really just trying to open your eyes to the truth (and anybody who thinks more unwanted animals is the answer). It sounds like u get it and this will be the last litter. Good luck with moma! Post kitten photos!!!

Heres a pic of the last 2 kittens im trying to find homes for!!!
