Hey, cut aid to foreign countries. How about tending our own garden?

Oops an earthquake, a tidal wave, etc. rush them billions of dollars in aid. Who comes to help US when we have devastating floods, hurricanes, tornadoes? It's time for 'tit for tat'. Help the ones that help us. We keep sending weapons etc. to middle east countries so they can fight their bad guys. When they win, they use those same weapons against us. Do you notice a pattern here.

Cut social security ??? Sure the oldies are the ones with the most medical bills - we can lighten the ss load and slash medicare spending in one fell swoop. Just decide at 65 or 66 or 67 to send oldies off to paradise. No concentration camps or "showers," - just tell them they are going to have a "happy ending." Happy for whom?

I'm in an academic program that takes up pretty much all of my time and has nothing to do with politics. My classmates and I had no idea what was going on until a couple of days ago. I still have yet to see any effects, but I guess unless they put a stop to my loans or the deferment of undergrad loans, I wouldn't really know...

I do enjoy reading these posts though. They keep me somewhat up to date!

The talk about defaulting is a lie. Because by law, the payments must be made. (But what's the law mean anymore, with this bunch) But, if they don't raise the debt ceiling(Which they should not do anyway) Something has to be cut, to make those interest payments.  Cutting S/S, I don't think the retirees will riot and raise too much he!!.  But cutting back the EBT benefits.  That's where the fun will begin.

Retiree's SS benefits should not be cut. They paid in, so have all of us for that matter, and they should receive it. They are too old to go back to work to take care of themselves and no one will hire them. Walmart dropped the greeters at the door you know, where most seniors did work. Now the EBT receivers? Most are able bodied and can work and as far as I know, they haven't paid into any fund for EBT benefits. That goody needs to be reformed.

You got that right. The primary system is a joke. It needs to be held on one day and one day only for both parties in all states. And closed, not open. As it is right now, they manipulate who will come out on top in the primarys and that is who they give us as our choice.
