Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

I’m having a hard night here. I’m very worried about Cami my grey hen. She had been having a foot problem recently but today she has had very bad respiratory issues and is breathing through her mouth. I’m worried about aspiration pneumonia because she is not quacking and I can hear a gurgling noise. I may try to get her in to the vet tommorow. There’s not many in close proximity to me, and I’d be worried about her being in the car for a long time. :hmm

I’m very sad to say that Cami had passed away when I checked on her this morning. I’m devastated. :hit
I was going to try to get her into the vet today but it was too late.
Oh, no! I'm so sorry. I sometimes wish that birds weren't so tough. It so often seems like they don't show us how bad it is until it's too late. :hugs

Thanks so much. It all happened so fast. I’m truly heartbroken. She just hatched out babies a few weeks ago. I only have one other grey (her baby). 😢

You have a baby, though! That's good. What'd you name it?
Yes, I’m very grateful to have her ducklings. I named her Chip (chocolate chip). Her other ducklings are from my drake Splash who I sadly lost about 2 months ago. I’ll get a picture of little chip. She does look like Cami but has a much larger speculum.
Here’s little Chip.

So sorry about Cami :(
Did you check her body for any signs of anything? I agree with @Conan , they are so tough, by the time they show us that something is wrong, it’s oftentimes too late for us to react.
Is the person you gave her egg to going to incubate them or eat them? Wondering if you could get them back, or maybe you could get ducklings back from them?

Yes I checked her over really well. No bumblefoot or signs of injury. Her eyes were alert and she had no nasal discharge or discharge from her eyes. She was breathing very heavy and through her mouth as if she was in respiratory distress and she was unable to quack. There was a loud audible almost gurgling noise which had me thinking aspiration pneumonia but I’m just not sure. All of the respiratory symptoms started early that morning. Another thing is that the keel bone protruded more than the others and she felt lighter than normal. She was able to spend her last day with all her babies and the other calls. :(

The person I gave her eggs to is incubating them. She was nice enough to agree that if she hatched a grey, she’d give it back to me. I still have all of her other babies and all the ducklings she hatched out a few weeks ago so that’s ok. I may try to incubate this last egg she laid.
