Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

I’m not sure if the lilac comes from the chocolate gene, or a brown gene, honestly. Chocolate I think. I know I only had the one girl, no drakes, so if chocolate, then one of my drakes is carrying it. I did discover one of my blue pied males has some brown on the side of his head that wasn’t showing until he eclipsed, so I assume it’s him. I also don’t know if dusky factor comes into play. I don’t have the capability to separate them for specific color breeding, so I never really researched it enough lol

On a happy note, my white hen was off her nest yesterday, and I checked some of her eggs real quick. At least 2 internal pips, so I should have some more ducklings soon!

And just a random pic I took this morning, babies are almost as big as momma now.

I love the pictures! Such beautiful ducks on this thread. It always cheers me right up anytime I'm down and out ❤️ So you are able to bring that color back right? I guess that would depend on the ducks and drakes of specific colors and if they decide to mate or not 🤣 I'm guessing it's probably like a daughter that doesn't want anything to do with the perfect guy you'd like for her to marry ☺️ Either way just let me know if you'd like some eggs whenever the time comes. I'd be happy to share some with you or anyone of you wonderful folks that I enjoy chatting with so much. I need to get some tips from y'all about packaging for the best outcome. I'm still impressed with my outcome on @WVduckchick eggs ❤️🥚❤️

Took a short video of Milo (Call with the most yellow), Maggie (Call with most black) and Della Duck (the little Australian Spotted Duckling). Della is one week younger than the Calls. Please overlook this tub as it needs to be replaced. It's crazy how much smaller Della Duck is, but she's definitely growing at a nice rate. I believe Aussie's are a tiny bit larger than Calls. I love how the Calls still have the "barefoot" look 🤣

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I hope all of you, your families and flocks are doing well. Recently I've started to notice that Lylah is getting her "Call Duck Cheeks" and oh my gosh, she's so beautiful! I absolutely adore these little ducks so much. Tully and Paisley have just started getting their big boy plumage, which I wasn't expecting. Since this is my first time with Calls, I'm anticipating more and more surprises as they grow and I learn. I had a domestic Mallard Drake (such a friendly and all around wonderful Drake named "India") before but his plumage didn't change after his adult feathering came in. Maybe I was mistaken on his breed. He was a hatchery duck so that could have been the difference. He was snatched up right before lock up one evening 😭 My only other drakes are "Stormy" a Cayuga, and "Reggie" a Pekin (just because he was THE favorite, I have to mention "Drake" my jumbo Pekin Drake as he was my first loss). So the plumage changes will be a new and exciting thing here. Both Tully and Paisley are getting darker bills too. Changes are happening everywhere 😍 How's everyone's flock doing?

@WVduckchick whenever Faith starts to lay, is there one color mate that would result in more lilacs? If so, I'd love to send you some of her eggs to get Margaritas color back in your flock if that'd be OK with you. Just let me know. Of course there's plenty of time between now and then. I wonder what would need to happen to produce a complete lilac magpie? I've got 3 incompletes, one lilac and two black. Would mixing an incomplete black magpie to an incomplete lilac magpie, result in a full magpie? This is way over my head and my two black are still quite young. I'm thinking I have a pair but only time will tell 😊 My mind is all over the place, obviously 🤣

Hello @HeatherKellyB ! I’ve missed talking to you! Myself and my flock are doing great! Milo is doing well too! Turns out his seizure was a reaction to a flea and tick monthly prevention I used on him!
aww, I love the “call duck cheeks” and I also love when they begin to fill out more and get the rounded shape.
So sorry you lost your drake! :hugs
I’m glad everyone is doing well! The plumage changes are so exciting! :love

I'm so happy to hear that your sweet Milo is recovering! So happy his issue wasn't fatal. I hear more and more about the flea meds causing all kinds of problems. My clients are always asking me what to use for fleas and I don't feel comfortable recommending anything anymore. It's so scary! So I guess it's safe to say that I also have a Milo. One of my last to hatch Calls is named Milo. I love that name! He's getting big fast!

Here’s Beans now! He is such a unique color. He’s definitely one of my favorites! @Pyxis I was going to ask you about this green sheen he developed. I’m really curious to watch him develop more!

I am so relieved! Me too, he is such a sweet boy! My vet told me that too! It was really scary! I’m going to be very wary of what I use from now on.

I saw your video of Milo! Such a cutie! I love the name Milo too! :love

How is Gharth doing? 🤔

Gharth is finally growing, the feathering in was really slow, but he’s finally getting there. Still a little runt-y looking, but I think he will grow up fine and healthy now.

Momma White has at least 2 out so far. I checked the nest at 9:00 this morning and saw an external pip. 6 hours later, I see 2 out from under her so far.
