I did actually but thank you so much for the offer. I found a ferret harness that fits him quite well. I also have one coming from Etsy. I have no sewing skills but one of my friends offered to make him one as well.@FunnyfarmMidwest did you find a harness for Bobbles? I ordered a couple to try on Maggie but she acted like I was putting a straight jacket on her and freaked out. I was hoping they'd help with her angel wing but I couldn't even get it on her before she had squirmed out of it. If you have sewing skills, you could possibly get one of these to work. I'll be happy to send you one if you'd like. Just let me know![]()
Thank you for the kind words. Her eye is actually great, thank goodness for extra eyelids, I’m sure that’s what saved it.Wow! That's so wonderful and seriously impressive! You and your little duckling are an awesome team! The way she's reacting to you being over there makes it seem like her vision is still good. I was worried about her suffering from dry eye and her vision being impaired. Are you lubricating her eye or does everything seem to be working properly on it's own to keep her eye healthy? You have done such a wonderful job. To even tackle something like this is pretty inspiring in my opinion. I am so happy things are going so well. Prayers for a smooth and fast recovery![]()
I did not tape Garth’s wings. Turns out he’s a boy too, his head is starting to become green. I didn’t tape the wings because I had hope that they would strengthen on their own also. Both wings just hang low and a little away from the body, they don’t twist out like regular angel wing. I still hope they will improve when he molts. The feathers are soooo long, I think even a feather trim might help, but I just haven’t done it.@WVduckchick did you have any luck with the duck you wanted to wrap for angel wing most recently? I don't think I'll be able to fix Maggie's and it's breaking my heart! I feel like it's such a risk to her. I hate to keep her wrapped up but I'm wondering if that'd be an option? I certainly don't want to be cruel. I guess I was hoping that it'd get better with hands on manipulation, age/growth, and muscle building, but it wasn't a simple fix like Lylah's. I feel so bad about it. With her being young, I feel like it's worth it to keep trying, even if it's unlikely that it's going to improve. I don't know.
Have you started letting Modo (is this her name) visit with the flock again or are you going to wait until she's healed up more? I'm guessing her mama wouldn't acknowledge her as her own? On the other hand, I'm quickly learning that these little ducks do what they want, whenever they wantI am still amazed. I know this took a lot of time and effort but I hope the pay off is well worth it. I imagine many folks would find this as incredible as we do. Both of you deserve nothing but the very best

I would worry about fly strike too until it's dried up more.Thank you for the kind words. Her eye is actually great, thank goodness for extra eyelids, I’m sure that’s what saved it.
Each time I worked on her, I tried to clean it out, then I’d do a saline rinse, then add neosporin or Vaseline or even coconut oil to keep it lubed. I also used some Terramycin ointment. Her eyeball itself has always seemed fine, so I was mostly going for lube and infection control.

I took Modo outside yesterday, just on the porch in a tote with a water bowl. When she would make noise, her mom didn’t seem to take notice, but her siblings seemed to hear her. I really have no idea how they will accept her back. Mom or siblings could be very accepting, or maybe they will all snub her. I’m at least hopeful that mom will be accepting, since she is still much smaller than the others. They are getting more independent anyway. I’m waiting until the “wound” closes up a little more, I don’t want it to get reinfected outside. But we’ll see and hope for the best!

What a little cutie! I’m so glad he’s doing well. He seems to have the same issue as my little Mustard has with her wings. It’s not like the traditional angel wing, but instead her wing hangs low and sticks out. I’ll try to get some pics.Got a couple pics of Garth today, the little fart.
