Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

White is recessive :) So if the duckling turns out to be white, it means mom was carrying it, which she was because her father was white. It means the duckling's father was also either white or carrying white.
Awesome! Thanks so much for explaining that! :) The possible fathers I guessed were my white drake, my blue fawn pied male, or black pied drake. It’s more likely the white drake right?

Man I am just thrown for a loop today! I was assisting a duckling from one of my pekin ducks eggs. Imagine my surprise when out pops a non-crested all yellow duckling! He had a foot and wing over head and was struggling. He pipped externally 34 hrs ago. his membrane was really dry so I moistened it and removed the membrane around his air cell with no bleeding. He looked absorbed and wasn’t yawning or chewing. A little bit ago he wiggled his little head out on his own. He had an unabsorbed yolk so I set his shell in a little cup in the incubator just like I did with my two call ducklings. Hopefully he’ll absorb it and do ok. He is very exhausted. :fl

the first picture is the mother and father and the second picture is the duckling before I stuck him back in the incubator. I am just so surprised by his appearance!

I don't get it. Aren't all Pekin ducklings yeller?

Yeah I kind of thought my Cayuga Rouen cross would look a little different too but he didn't.
Look just like a Cayuga.
Now, his bill and feet are a little more orange than a full Cayuga as an adult.
Wow, interesting! If this little fella makes it I’m to see how it will turn out! :pop

Statistically, yes :)

And I guess you know your rouen drake is carrying white now too, haha.

I’ve got a question. From this hatch I only had one pekin mix duckling and one itty bitty call. Do you guys think it will be ok if I put them together? Faith (the bigger one) is so energetic I’m worried she’ll trample the little fella! Faith is about 24 hours old.
