Preppers were right! No toilet paper in the stores due to Coronavirus scare.

I'm in pa and I only noticed hand sanitizer out if stock but what I don't understand is I heard overuse if hand sanitizer can kill the good bacteria off your hands a few years ago I saw on the news kids were getting sick from constantly using hand sanitizer

Of the many things I have done in my life, I am also a Registered Nurse. In nursing school (10 years ago), they would tell us just to wash good with plain soap and water. Using the anti-bacterial soap, in society in general, was not seen as a positive because it lead to bacteria with greater resistance to our medications. Today, the doctors on TV are also recommending using plain soap and water. Hand sanitizer works for times when you don't have access to soap and water, but I think washing with plain soap and water is still the preferred method.

As to good bacteria on your hands, yes. Anti-bacterial soap kills both good and bad bacteria on your hands. We need the good bacteria to protect us, so I can imagine that kids using only sanitizer would be killing off their good, protective bacteria on their hands and that could lead to an increased chance of bad bacteria getting a hold on their hands.

Everyone here in New Mexico has gone like zombie apocalypse mode here... there’s nothing, anywhere. Everyone is locking themselves into their houses. The schools are closed.

Sorry to hear that. People make poor choices when in panic mode. Do you have an actual Coronavirus infection outbreak in your area? If not, then maybe it's just people overreacting and I hope things will settle down in a few weeks.

As to zombie apocalypse, for fans of the TV series "The Walking Dead," I believe the real monsters are not the mindless zombies but rather the healthy humans and what they will do to each other in the name of survival. The mindless zombies are a threat, but the humans are truly evil on that show.

That's odd. I can't get enough Honey Nut Cheerios lately. I won't even admit how fast I go through a box but I have Cheerios for snacks and meals, every single day. After reading your post, I immediately thought, "hmmm... Are they putting something addictive in the Cheerios?". Of course that's completely silly. I know they are just so delicious. It's almost 2am here so my brain has given up for now, until at least 5am tomorrow :D
Oh my word I have literally thought the same exact thing about something addictive being in Cheerios multiple times. I mean, idk what it is, but I have random cravings for them all the time.

There’s not a breakout in my city, but I’m in betweven two counties that had breakouts. Ever since the first case was announced, BOOM. No more tp, no more hands sanatizer, nothing.

We don't have any cases of Coronavirus infection in our area, and already we have a run on the stores. IF we do see the infection, I can only imagine how bad it might get for a while. Just hope we find a way to cope with the situation before society collapses.

On the brighter side, I heard last night on the news that the situation in China is getting better. That is good news.

I am not a prepper, but hat's off to them who planned ahead for something like this Coronavirus scare that has resulted in a run on all toilet paper in our local stores. I was in our local Menard's today and the toilet paper shelves were completely empty. One of the salespeople told me that if I needed toilet paper, there was still one store in town that had some but it was expensive. The only toilet paper Menards had left were a few rolls of RV toilet paper and that was something like $4.50 per roll. Personally, I don't think about toilet paper very much, but Dear Wife is almost in a panic about this situation. Evidently, WalMart ran out of toilet paper a couple days ago. Just wondering if anyone else has seen similar things in their towns/cities?

Since I am just rambling with my thoughts, let me say that I have tried, for years, to convince my wife to stock up on toilet paper, etc... when we see a good sale at the store. I personally like to stock up on non perishable items when those good sales come around. But Dear Wife does/did not want to have months of sale items stored in the house. I am not a prepper, but do consider myself frugal, and would like to stock up on non perishable sale items for later use. Having said that, maybe the preppers were more right than given credit for as this Coronavirus scare has some (too many?) people in a panic.

:old This might be one of the few times in our 30+ years of married life that Dear Wife might consider my approach to stocking sale items not such a silly notion. I think that idea (that maybe I was right) has more chance of killing her than the Coronavirus itself!
Yes my family in Springfield ohio has no butt paper either no formula no baby food no dipewipes either. I told them to get a bunch of rags. Hell its cleaner anyway and dont leave particles. Get a toilet that sprays u. I'd of said the name but for the life of me I can't spell that the name to that toilet. But here in texas everything is fine so far.. I'd like to know other states and locations this is happening also?!!

Yesterday I visited Costco at what I thought would be a slow time. HAH! Super busy, selling staples like crazy. I'm not going back anytime soon, want to stay home as much as possible. Today it's a trip to TSC for chicken food, can hardly wait...
Live is never dull.
