Typical answer of a defeated opponent. I was a debate champion in high school along with my team and what you just said is what is usually said by the losing team.

Is that what you really got out of what I said? Lets see you are saying regardless whatsoever they should never go hungry? Giving food to a parent that fails to give it to their kid is a good idea? leaving that child in an abusive situation is a good idea? By your reasoning if a Nazi feeds a starving kid it is better than starvation? People in Germany were starving and they encouraged their children to join the Nazi party so to not starve. Get your history straight. Unless you are comparing poverty and hunger to the Holocaust and that is no way a fair comparison and you should be ashamed to suggest that.

I am sure someone used some facts to come up with the 2.5 million starving kids I just question how they did it.

A few facts about your imaginary problem.

Ed,... now you and i are going to have a little talk here... :he
It is not an imaginary problem..
There ARE HUNGRY kids here in our country... period. And if you deny that, well...... :smack ( )
Yes, some is because of neglectful, crack head parents... but a BIG majority is because of parents that simply dont have enough money to make ends meet.....
These kids are living on Ramon noodles for dinner for months, every day.. ... so technically not "starving",... but still they DO NOT have enough food .. they dont get breakfast,..they DO go to school hungry... and even go to sleep at night hungry...
Dont deny something just to argue... it IS a real issue here...
Sorry, not trying to fight.. :hide

I agree there are kids that are hungry, starving? no abused by horrible parents? yes should we help them ? absolutely, should it be the government? no, it is not the role of government unless we give them authority to remove the children from that abusive situation. I have a good freind that grew up eating lard sandwiches for lunch as a child and she was poor as dirt but her parents always managed to find food for her and her brothers and this was long before welfare.

Now I have a question for you, why is Michelle Obama having a campaign to stop childhood obesity? I read somewhere that child obesity is higher among welfare children.

Ed, the only thing I can respond to you in this regard is that I am glad that I am not in your shoes. I will take a look at the picture of my 4 year old grand daughter and I will imagine her hungry all the time and I will come to the conclusion that it is not acceptable for even one child in this country to go hungry. Your response is, "it aint so." I do not care whose fault it is, bad parents, who cares. Children should not be hungry in a country where we could feed a medium sized country from our dumpsters. In the face of one five year old who is hungry, you have no argument and talk about how the nazi's solved the problem and Michele Obama's fight against childhood obesity is an obsene smoke screen. If you found one hungry child at your door would your feed her or would you deny that she is hungry, blame her parents and claim it is not your responsibility? Off course you would feed her and that is the entire issue here.

Don, if I see a home with a television, Ipod, video games, animals in the backyard or whatever they are not starving their children they are abusing them. Put a skinny horse in your yard and watch the county come take it away. I see do-gooders on BYC rescue chickens and all sorts of animals all the time and not give them to a food bank. Hungry children are not from lack of resources but lack of access and if a parent is not doing what they ought to feed their kids they should not have them or have more. I limited myself to two because I knew I had the best chance of feeding them adequately when I was making them. Breeding like rats and then living like rats tend to get you treated like rats.

People do tend to hit bad streaks I agree and what did they find 3 families to do the show? I have some freinds that were approached by film makers to do a show because they had a large multiracial family and after they read what the purpose of the show was and the money they were offered (which the families on dsplay were also...are they still hungry?) they declined because they were not wanting to be portrayed in a way they were not.

Maybe define "hunger" for me, because I am not really sure anymore what it means. I have five dogs in my house three are heelers of that three one is obese and always hungry the other two eat their dogfood and maintain a healthy weight, which one is experiencing hunger?

And yes I would feed a hungry child and do but not through Obama.

Just to stir the pot.
I guess I would call myself a pink progressive libertarian. It is great to feel that one is responsible for ones choices. And yes you many times reap the seeds you sow but as living loving understanding persons we all have a responsibility for those who have no or lost control over there circumstances. You will find real hunger for the elderly, mentally ill, Indian reservations, and others across the board.
I have worked in a large housing project doing remodels and yes it was hard not to look down on some of the people and how they lived but you have to ask yourself how we allowed so many people to feel they have so little choices.
Is the system we have now the best way to help people, probably not. Can we do better, I hope so

And by the way, I am in no way surprised by your accomplishments in debate in HS. You may be surprised to hear of my competiton in debate at the college level. I am not here to continously "debate" with you, there is a point where you get tedious and it's just not worth the effort....Am I going to get a "I debated Chickened medal"? I think not. Does it matter if I get any points across to you? No, not at all. You are just trolling, anyway, IMO.

Oh and also, no one in a college level debate would say what I said... It isn't the kind of statement you give in debate competition. What I said was a reaction of amusement at your predictible response.

But , if you want to think of it as my "cry of defeat", go ahead... Nothing would please me more.

OK, I will give you a "college level" question, if you give your kid 40,000.00 to buy a car and he buys a 40,000.00 car was the money well spent? Now if your kid bought a 300.00 junker and blew the rest was the money well spent? This is what is happening with welfare and the poor kids are the victims, back to the question, do you continue to give the kid more money or do you spend it elsewhere? now that I think about it this is not a college level question because a high school kid can see the error in that philosophy.

Sarcasm, another tactic used when proven wrong. Proving liberal ideas wrong is really not that difficult, doing it without calling names, sarcasm and accusations requires talent.

If debating me is tedious and not worth the effort where is the breakdown between your brain and your typing fingers? or is there an unknown reason you respond? huh??

College can teach you to think in a way unknown to one prior but it doesn't necessarily make one smart. I posted this in another post but look who are running failing these huge corporations and going to jail... ivy league college grads with masters and bachelor degrees not high school educated dummies like me.

Or someone who can't be bothered with someone who is ridiculous and unreasonable.

I find these whole birther arguments absurd.

My kid's official Texas birth certificates are printed on crappy blue paper, with something that looks like a dot matrix printer. I've seen more official looking toilet paper. But it is an official state document. Almost all official state birth certificates look as lousy. My home state is better, it actually has a cool laminated card that you can purchase as a birth certificate. These "birther" nuts probably wouldn't consider it a real birth certificate, because we didn't have plastic that looked like that when I was born.

Soon Arizona Joe will have much more to worry about with all the charges he is facing.
