Problem Child - Spradle leg(s)

It's a chicken chick I feel so bad is leg is up and his joints all red and he can barely wobble.
This happens sometimes and can be heart breaking. go to the poultry pedia I gave you the link to it will help you give the chick the best care. Read down the link till you come to what looks like could be going on with your chick. All the best. Also post in the Emergency thread too.

And it doesn't look like and time of spay if spraddle it just can't come out it stays bent.

I have read on here where ducklings have drowned in their water bowl so I do think it's good idea to make sure when having one that is special needs to have a shallow bowl. But had to laugh at your description of flip and flop rolling around like doughnuts. Bless.

Yea shallow for sure. Mine had a hamster dish about a 1/4 inch deep. LoL Flop doesnt roll like a doughnut now he just does doughnuts to where hes going

Water is best i agree! I dont see the problem with letting it have some while gone. My duckies flip and flop always had access to water. They never were in danger of drowning and they rolled around like doughnuts.

Hi 8,

the problem wasn't that she was flipping and flopping (and I like that description too), the problem was two fold in that she couldn't get back up again - at all - and she couldn't fift her head on her own when either way up. So there was a distinct possibility of drowning even with a shallow bowl. She is now staying upright and is able to lift her head so I've now given her a chick waterer. She can get a drink - but can't get in. So hopefully when I get home from work today - aside from a big mess - I should come home to a happy gosling (hopefully :fl)
