I have had a plethora of hiccups with this batch of silkie eggs. First, my broody hen abandoned them...twice! I found them cool to the touch the time I decided to bring them inside and incubate them. Then, they got unplugged on accident...twice! The first was overnight and the second was for an hour at most. Then...I troubleshoot why my humidity seems to be off and turns out the humidity had been reading wrong the entire hatch so who knows if it was ever at the right level. SOMEHOW six of the twelve eggs still seemed to develop normally. After doing lots of research, I decided not to fully honor “lockdown” and check on them very carefully once a day because they have had such a rough time and I’m concerned none of them will hatch. Tomorrow will be day 21 and I have seen movement inside but there’s been no rocking, no pips, no chirping.. I keep telling myself that if they’ve made it this far and there’s still movement, they’ll pull through. Is it possible that they could develop this far and be alive but still not hatch? I’m still pretty new to hatching.

Life has a way of doing things that should not happen. I really hope you have a great hatch. Unfortunately I have little experience with artificial hatching and can offer no advice.

Yes you can have that happen. I had a duck egg make it into lockdown and then died in shell just before pipping. If you had periods of extensive cooling they may just be delayed.
